Sorry for suggesting something that wasn't actual Nexus policy. I remembered it from back when I was in the Nursery.

I guess, as always, my words come with a pinch of salt.

I do see a lot of people requesting that a mod move their threads around though, which seems like bad manners to me...

Is it? I posted a thread yesterday and put "mods please/feel free to move this thread..." in the title because it seemed to me like it didn't belong in any of the nursery fora, and I'm still a newb...thought it would be a polite way of doing so...

The stated purposes of the four nursery fora are "ask your first questions about General DMT knowledge," "if something isn't clear about an extraction procedure, new members can ask questions about it here," "the place for new members to share their DMT experiences," and the intro essay section -- if I am posting a question about something unrelated to any of those topics, in this case music (but still related to the Nexus, entheogens, etc.), am I not guilty of cross- or off-topic posting?

Would not this also be "bad manners" in any other subforum?

I am always really surprised by the kinds of things that offend people in online fora (mainly because I've only recently begun joining/posting to them), we're all total strangers to each other for the most part, we're all here to further the collective knowledge of our group, why must people always assume "bad manners" or "rudeness"? --

I dunno, I feel like most of the time it just comes down to a mis-communication/mis-reading of the person's comment (usually by both sides of the discussion), it's not like it is easy to fully convey one's tone (joking, rude, or otherwise) in an online forum. Seems like the best thing to do would be to give someone the benefit of a doubt.

I'm sorry if it seems like I am attacking, or arguing, I am not trying to, this thread just made me wonder/ponder a bit...

In any case, I've edited the title of my post so as to make it a non-issue, and I will admit that the opening paragraph of my post *was* a tongue-in-cheek request for the thread to be moved/my ranking promoted which I can definitely see as being taken as bad taste -- was this perhaps more what you were referring to, Ouro?

I know you (obviously) weren't talking to me, Icekohld, but them's some true true words.

I will consider myself due-ly "told".

I wasn't referring to you specifically, poorfish. I don't want to turn this into a weird abstract discussion of online manners and etiquette, but lets just say that I have seen some pretty tasteless requests/demands to have someones post moved to a more "important" forum or thread, and my point is that the poster can just copy it over themselves when they get promoted. Humor and satire always conquer the rules of manners imo Smile Personally, I find the nursery forums important, and I figure anyone that has good intentions there will get promoted eventually.

Oh geez, drives me a-wall... You get it all built up in your head and what not...

Now, I just read to further my knowledge, as someone said... I apologize for not remembering the name, "the rest of the Nexus is like an archive", and thats how I take it. When, and if, I become a "full member" I doubt I'll even know right away, and probably miss out on posting some thoughts of my own, but thats just what it is. I honestly am just happy that there is a forum such as this, which allows speak of extractions (although I honestly wish other things could be discussed but I totally understand why they can't).

I'd just like to get to know someone who will genuinely want to teach someone else chemistry. (I'm trying to teach myself, as I have some Bio-Chem books, and am to poor to goto school at the moment, but it'll happen eventually)

Anyways.... When I have something like music or art I want to post, I just post it in the "information" thread. As I'm providing information to others.
01:13:08 ‹Ellis DEmpty› I met the people living in my head... I disturbed them while they were sitting down at the table.... They were as shocked as I was!

EXACTLY. thank you kevyn. well put.we all should feel lucky that we're part of a forum that will allow extraction talk. benevolantson and cosmicfool: EVERY question i had when i was just a spirit (and only allowed to post in the nursery) got answered and got answered appropriately and in a very timely manner. guess you don't know just how lucky you are to be a part of this, ultimately showing that you're not ready to be a full part. i understand what y'all mean but come on now...is what you have to say sooo important that you're gonna keep going on and on about how you don't get to say it? PM the person, if you really need to be heard. doesn't matter if you get to see your name on the wall. i promise you: ANYTIME i've ever really had something to say (in any aspect or time in my life), i was heard, one way or another. not trying to be a dick, just being honest. just be patient. the more the mods see you pestering folks about full membership, the less likely you are to get it.

we're all psychonauts so we've all got plenty to say to you. we can either say it to you now or after you get full membership. it's all up to you. we can tell you how you should just be patient and wait all day over threads or you can just be patient and wait and we'll talk to you about some real shit. it's really not that important. everyone has something they can teach someone else. everyone has a voice. everyone has something to say but until one learns how to say what they have to say, one will never be heard. if God intended for you to talk more than listen, you'd have two mouths and one ear...
embrace your nothingness...it's all you are...

Yeah man dont get me wrong, its not like Im chocking in my own frustration when I cant reply to some topics Smile Sometimes I just stumble upon interesting topics and would like to add my 2 cents but cant, and knowing that my marshmallow brain wont remember these topics anymore when and if I get priviledges adds its own touch to that frustration Smile
But if I cant remember them then, nothing of utmost importance is lost, thats for sure Smile

Anyways, Im not saying that this posting system that Nexus has, is a bad thing. I think its just perfect as it surely keeps most of the trolls and other not-so-wellwishers at bay and forums nice and tidy.

Strange, I was thinking about patience the other day. The I-Ching always requests a certain patience and non-action. I think it has a lot to do with not actually consciously thinking of acting out an act but processing all the relative information involved in what you wish to accomplish and then you will act out this act just in everyday life, slowly, to the point where you won't even realise that you've done it.

Having difficulties with my patience for world finally waking up though.

Congrats on the promotion man.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not stressing over not being able to post in all areas of this AMAZING! forum Very happy And in no way at all am I 'wink winking, nudge nudging' ie trying to speed up the process.

I have found that life has a way of beating patience into me at times. The less urgent I make things the better the outcome and the less flustered I become. Relax, read (listen) and learn.

The forum policy is solid. There are a lot of basic basic questions that need to be answered in the nursery and I answer them because I think people should enjoy DMT safely and use the purest spice possible. If i can spend 20secs to save someone from smoking lye or plastic or forgetting to protect their eyes then that's time well spent in my view. But you wouldn't want these guys posting all over the place because while well intentioned they also post a lot of inaccurate things. Just wait a while and read read read.

Patience is a true virtue to be sought and obtained.

that being said the voices said I would be promoted to messiah, but that has yet to happen. I guess the voices have yet to pass the message to the mods. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

I will await my promotion with the utmost patience.

The trick is to think about what you are posting before you hit that post button. If it adds to the conversation in a productive, non judgmental manner and is clear mature and concise then it wont take many posts like that before you are a full member. If you act like a immature child and let your emotions sway your reason you might have the opportunity to hit the triple digit club. We aren't looking for numbers of posts we are trying to get a taste of your character. Once someone has gotten a good feel for how you act and react to conversation they will suggest you become a full member.

In the last few months the nexus has had a influx of some very immature and reckless people. We have also had some very intelligent and productive people as well. Keep in mind if you think you will just fake it for awhile to get out of the nursery there are plenty that have been put right back in. That door swings both ways.

Yeah thats a comforting way of looking at it. Being in the nursery, is not nearly as bad as being put back in the nursery.

I find myself being too patient sometimes, wondering "how much longer is that plastic gonna hold?" Or maybe I'm being lazy. I'll get around to that intro essay one day. The BLAB too.

If I ever want to post outside the nursery, I'll PM the OP and he/she will post it for me if they think it is worthy. That's my tip for the day.

Do you think there's a chance that you fulfill the criteria, but just fly under the radar of the mods ,and don't get suggested?
Im not saying this is the case with me , just posing a question.

Guys, it took me over 60 posts and a month in chat to get noticed. That's been my lot in life. While I think I have a lot to contribute, it always takes a while for others to notice. So be patient and enjoy posting here and above all don't take it prsonally if you are not promoted quickly. you know the old saying:

A watched pot never boils and an anxious nursery member who asks whenwhenwhen (often boils) but never gets promoted.Wink

JBArk
JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.
