I was interested in why this is, what occurs chemically / physically?

Well, dmt freebase isn't so soluble in naphta in the first place and freezing it makes it unable to dissolve it at all.

The naphtha freeze helps because there is a relationship between the temperature of the naphtha and how much DMT can dissolve in a given volume of naphtha. If warm naphtha can dissolve 2.0mg/mL DMT and cold naphtha can dissolve 0.1mg/mL DMT, then placing 200mL of naphtha in the freezer for 24 hours would cause 380mg DMT to precipitate out.
Every tool is dangerous when misused. That is no reason not to use tools.
Isn't it strange that a gift can be an enemy?
