ive always wondered about this little side note at the bottom of the forum screen.
ive been coming around here just a bit after this date but ive never seen even half this many users on line at one time.

is there a story behind this particular day or was the nexus much more active then?
what was the nexus like in the begining days? what do you miss?

i dont want this thread to become a bash on the current nexus, which i feel we all agree is an amazing place, so maybe the senior members that reply can also talk about what they like about the nexus now as well as what they miss.

i had a talk with one of my closest real life friends whos also a long time nexus member last week. he was telling me all about the nexus now vs. then. i feel it would be an important thread for myself and newer members to read as this place was built upon the backs of our senior members ideas, thoughts and ways. i value their outlook on the direction of things and feel their insights could navigate us to our highest potential in the future. Very happy

Well, I don't know you, but from your post you seem to show a lot of disrespect already. I mean, you throw in "i dont feel like its right to suspend some one for being uneducated but that's me and im not a mod" for no better reason than to get your point across that you were "wrongfully suspended"... Then you BLATANTLY disrespect by stating "i will learn a lot, and then i might teach the old timers something out of respect for what they have already taught me so much". Honestly, I don't KNOW if you meant to come off this way, but (and yes I'm still a carrot as well) to ME you did, so others MIGHT interpret it that way as well, which, in my eyes, you don't, or shouldn't, want to be taken as. So don't come out "smart" please Smile (And yea, I know it's probably not my place to say anything, but I speak my mind, and thats how I felt... attacked, from your post, and I'm not even an "old-timer" and know NOTHING about you)

Anyways, to the OP at hand; I'm not old, so I cannot speak of what they might; however, I will say that I totally love these forums. Why? Because they are filled (mostly) with semi-like-minded people, who share roughly the same viewpoint and outlook on life as I, and I actually UNDERSTAND (mostly) what people are saying/trying to convey in their messages. I like it because on no other forum that I've been to (and I've been to a few) have I seen such... I want to say "equality?" but I'm not sure if thats the right word. I love how everyone joins in to talk/express about these certain substances which not many in the "world outside" know, or even care about.

What do I hate? When people don't use proper punctuation (and I'm not the best either), but come on, is it THAT hard to type how you speak? I also hate when people ask questions which can be found in numerous spots throughout the Nexus, yeah yeah a question is a question, but if you ask four questions, get five answers, and ask four more which can all be answered by doing SOME searching... then please, don't blow yourself up!

Edit: Sorry I got to rambling on and on... and for some reason thought this up as a "love/hate about the Nexus" thread. Sorry, my post will still stand. Hopefully people will read it and not flame TO much xD

Those are just my thoughts and opinions. Thanks for reading Smile

I only joined in 2010, but my guess would be that in years past, there was probably a lot more chemistry and sciency talk. Those were the days when people started coming out with the new teks, which eventually evolved in to the great food safe teks. Kudos to those who helped make the science of this subject what it is today. They were the pioneers.

Over time the DMT-Nexus has become a more and more busy place.

Those statistics are probably from a time where (mostly Chinese) search engine grabbed about anything they wanted in a very fast pace. Due to our new DDOS protection system the search engines who are too eager get shut off immediately now. And since those search engines with multiple grabbers were also counted as online users they gave that false statistic.

Here is a nice list of the posts per month since the beginning:

i apologize to the community if this turns into a "why i hate the nexus thread" and ill delete it if that continues to happen. that couldn't be further from my intentions starting this thread. this recent trend of aggressive speech is one reason i felt this thread would be a good idea. Sad im sorry everyone if i failed to help.

this is NOT a vent session for those who have felt wronged, nor a bash the nexus session. i hoped i had made that clear.

maybe it was a bad idea posting this in the nursery, (can we move it? the tavern maybe?) but since i didnt feel any other sub-forum fit the criteria of "history" or "non tek/substance" questions i put it here in hopes it would inspire new members to respect the way and attitude maybe more than many currently are.

as brilliantly pointed by idtravlr last night in discussion this was an attempt to link the newer quickly growing generations to the traditions and ways of the original members and stay on a good track of respect humility and caring for each other. as in shamanism i feel links to our past knowledge and ways are of utmost importance to maintain a healthy society. this can apply to families and even an internet forum community.

ill be quiet now...

I think this thread might be of interest:
History of the DMT Nexus

Definitely a lot changed since then. It comes in cycles, at some points there are many advances in a short period, and then it goes back to more normal discussions for a while without much new information.

I think with all the changes and the occasional problems, we've all actually have been successfully maintaining an overal respectful attitude and I am happy for that. Its good that the dmt nexus is known for generally having very reliable information and reasonable discussions.

I can understand and could even relate to a nostalgic feeling about the past, but to be honest I think thats useless, we have to act now and think of what we want to make with this place for the future. While many important characters are not really around any more or only very discretely, I still think we have many great members (and a very nice diverse mod crew), and I am glad of several of you new people that have really synched in with our attitude and help taking this whole community forward.

One wish I have is that there is more energy invested in tests again. Making solubility tests and other side-by-side tests, and basically contributing to this thread. and to the WIKI. The WIKI is where we can organize information in a way that wont dissapear in the middle of other posts, so its very important that we update it.

then im going to delete it if thats ok with the mods. i thought good positive reinforcement could come from the reply's regarding attitude and respect. i wasnt talking about dwelling on the past. in a way i WAS talking about the future. maybe its just me noticing a change and much more anger around here lately. thoughts and ideas seem to get shot down quickly and i dont remember seeing that as much when i first logged in. however perception is a tricky thing.

perhaps i just need a break.

I think you misunderstood me.. I wasnt talking about your nostalgia being useless, I was more talking about this feeling that I think goes a lot through the head of old timers, about the nexus 'back in the days', and while yes it was different, we cant return to the past so lets keep moving forward in the best way possible.

I appreciate this thread, dont think you should feel bad in any way.

emdlessness- thanks for clarifying that. i see your meaning now and i take no offense. i think my hearts in the right place i just maybe over emphasized the past.

hattersgunnahate- hang in their brother. ive seen many members have even rockier beginnings but are some of my favorite people to listen to. the ways of this place are very unfamiliar to many of us at first compared to the reality of daily life. it takes some adjustment for some and this can be an uncomfortable process at first. the nexus for me was a very humbling place.

you took your licks and your still here. i really respect that and it says something about your character. i tend to root for the underdogs on here as often as i want to slam them just because i was one too. ive said some stupid shit.Laughing but what the hell im only human, i made mistakes and i learned from it just like you. Wink

Well, I sincerely apologize Olympus Mon, like I said in my first post, I totally started rambling and forgot what the thread was all about, but since I typed it all already I figured I might as well post it (why would I try and hide what I feel inside?).

I know you didn't take it disrespectful, and it wasn't meant to be; however, after re-reading what I said, I can't help but say I'm sorry to everyone who read my post, mostly to Hatersgunnahate, I'm sorry bud. I was dealing with personal anger issues (and I'm still dealing with them to be honest) and I let them come into what I was trying to convey in my message (which I'm sure you get). Your welcome for the thank you.

I love this place, the mindset is so.... smooth, and believe you me, I loooove smooth Pleased

Anyways, to the topic at hand. Thats crazy, about the search engine thing... I'm glad it's all settled, and yes, the yearly incline is great Smile Do you also have a "member" incline as well? To view how many new members each year?

Thanks for reading.
