There is no measure of time or posts for that. I really recommend to read the welcome private message you received when you joined the forum. One of the things it says:

Quote:
4- New members posting limits - To prevent influx of badly intended members, new members are restricted to posting in the nursery area until they get promoted, which is usually just a matter of short time and a few genuine posts. Be patient, do not keep asking for being promoted, it will happen soon enough!. Posting an introduction essay telling a bit about yourself will also help increasing the chances of the promotion. Remember, when promotion happens, you wont receive any message. You can notice you have been promoted by looking at the left side of your posts, just below your avatar. If there is a seedling icon, you are still in the nursery. Once this icon dissapears, you have been promoted.

So its not about quantity, its just quality, and being patient until the mods can see the most important thing: that you're in line with our attitude.

and as you see now, your seedling icon is gone, so Pleased

Patience takes a long time to develop. I don't think its one of those things you can notice then switch on and start working at it. More of a thing that will develop with age. I am 19, practicing being patient is very close to the bottom of the list on personality traits I'm working on. Don't get me wrong, I'm not stressing over not being able to post in all areas of this AMAZING! forum Very happy And in no way at all am I 'wink winking, nudge nudging' ie trying to speed up the process.

All posts are fictional short stories depicting the adventures of WSaged!! None of these events have actually happened and any resemblance to any real persons or incidents is totally coincidence!!!!!!!!!!!!

the simple act of asking when you will be allowed to post in all forums means you don't need to be able to right now. what do you have to say that's so important? can it not be said here? everyone raeds these forums. so speak here and you'll be heard by the same ears. the nexus needs people who contribute to it. one cannot just think about what's in it for them. know what i mean? i wondered when i would be bumped up but never said anything because i knew it really didn't matter. everytime i had a legitimate question or topic, i posted it in the nursery and got the answers and responses i was looking for. as everyone says...just be patient. it will happen when it doesn't matter...

LoL yeah don't read into it too much. Every question I've had I've brought up in the nursery. I'll try to express it more bluntly: I am in no rush. When I wrote the question I was just expecting a one word answer, thats it.

Maybe you should move it to the priority list so that you'll be able to post in the other forums by the time your 46 like me?

I have a 21 year old son posting in all the forums now. He is embarrassed about the fact that his father is on these forums so he has asked me to keep it .... Hush, Hush. LOL

Being 19 and having very little patience often go hand in hand.

Lifes all about priorities. You'll figure it out.

Good luck.

If you see a thread outside of the Nursery you would like to reply to, just setup a thread with the same title, or Re:, and everyone will see it and either move the posts over or link to them from the initial thread.

Sorry to intervene here but this is not something we would like to see.

There is a reason why there is a split between the nursery and the rest of the forum and if people go on making responses to threads outside the nursery it will not only undermine the function of the nursery itself but it will also scatter the initial thread.

Kind regards,

Really trav? Them im guilty of suggesting otherwise..

I think if someone wants to answer something in a thread they cant, if they do this "re: " thing, then whenever they do get promoted we can just merge the threads together. Because otherwise some nursery people might just not make new threads because they actually want to talk about things in the main forums and cant.

But do say if you disagree and I stop recommending people to do that.. (feel free to pm me to discuss further if you want , just had to put this out here because otherwise ragabr would come off as suggesting somethign wrong but I actually did the same and thought it was the right thing to do Smile)

Oh well, nothing wrong with a good and open discussion. Pleased

You make a good point there about the merging. Maybe I'm too overly protective of the mods and reducing the amount of work we have to do as the mod crew. Up till now not many threads like that are made so maybe we could let it run loose for now. If it ever gets too much work then we can still decide otherwise.

How about that?

Kind regards,

The Traveler

I did exactly what you all are talking about when I got promoted (linking and addressing off limits forum topics from the nursery) and I just copy/pasted my replies to the appropriate thread myself. I do see a lot of people requesting that a mod move their threads around though, which seems like bad manners to me... In retrospect, I make the vast majority of my posts in the nursery anyways. I treat some of the other forums more like published archives where its really best if the content has been researched and thought out before posting to keep the good information dense.
