just throwing that out there, one of my first really deep trips i had a book with his art and I saw some amazing things while looking at it ("the spell" anybody enjoy as well? I know it looks very dark from the outside, but it can really bring about some interesting perceptions.

I have Giger's Alien book. He fully deserved the oscar he won for the creative design he did on the alien monster for the original Alien film. They are really impressively nasty, creepy beasts, at all stages of their life cycle. I'm studying entomology at the moment and they remind me of giant parasitic insects. But yes while the art work is dark, it is fascinating and very detailed. I've had his images start twitching and coming alive when tripping. Is it true his artistic inspiration is from his night terrors, originally he was encouraged to draw as a form of art therapy? He must have some HORRIBLE nightmares!

Xenomorph life cycle: -The Xenomorph Queen lays eggs. The Queen controls it's spawns and it's main function is to reproduce. She is the source of the collective consciousness of the hive. -Facehuggers (parasitoid life form) comes out of the egg and attaches itself to another lifeform. It implants eggs in the stomach of the victim, then dies. -The embryo implanted in the victim's stomach absorbs the victim's DNA and evolves into a Chestburster. The Chestburster erupts from the victim's body, ready to evolve into a fully grown Xenomorph showing some characteristics of it's earlier host. They will reproduce indefinitely until the multitude of lifeforms across the universe are absorbed into the single Xenomorph life form, or so I believe. Giger is amazing. "The joy of life consists in the exercise of one's energies, continual growth, constant change, the enjoyment of every new experience. To stop means simply to die. The eternal mistake of mankind is to set up an attainable ideal." - Aleister Crowley

Love me some Giger! Do a web search for his designs for the Dune film that Alejandro Jodorowsky was working on long before David Lynchs version happened.

yes, very cool dark matter, I have the book with that picture in it. it seems to me that he specifically creates his images with alternate states in mind. "the spell" is one of my favorites, the coolest thing is that those works are room size, 10' tall by 20 wide!!!!
another favority of mine is the "samurai"

Click on "post reply" to respond to thread. Clic that and insert image adress between the two pair of braquets. I bought a replica poster of one of his works just yesterday actually. It's the one with a bunch of aliens inside a gun as if they were the bullets. "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein
"The Mighty One appears, the horizon shines. Atum appears on the smell of his censing, the Sunshine- god has risen in the sky, the Mansion of the pyramidion is in joy and all its inmates are assembled, a voice calls out within the shrine, shouting reverberates around the Netherworld." - Egyptian Book of the Dead
"Man fears time, but time fears the Pyramids" - 9th century Arab proverb

i was in europe for the summer and made it a point to make it out to the Giger Bar and Museum. it is everything you think it is and more.. the bar is smaller then you might expect but it is cool as hell. the chairs are amazing and you can buy them, only thing is i believe they cost $10,000.. the bar is not even the best part. the museum is amazing. of course that is if you enjoy the mans art. there are several floors and one of them contains Gigers art collection (works of other artists). the most impressive thing to me was the sheer size detail of Gigers work.. with pieces filling entire walls... being there made me a very humble artist and i realized that i do not have enough detail in my own work. the layers and compositions in many of his pieces will have you staring for hours.. there is also a life size "alien" which was very cool to see... the museum and bar is in the medieval city of Gruyeres, Switzerland.. the city itself is really quaint and nice. in addition to the giger museum and bar admission for the museum also includes the temporary exhibit gallery that has circulating exhibits.. i cant recall whom was being shown while i was there but i do know that the only american to have been shown there is vincent castiglia, who is also worth checking out... he showed here in toronto a few months ago at the Meta gallery http://metagallery.com i wont say much about his work i will leave that to you but i will say that his method of painting is anything but conventional... thanks for sharing the vids and photos guys. its always a pleasure to see amazing art.. - dont travel to space travel to the space between spaces..[/color] -the ultimate mystery of being is beyond all categories of thought..-joseph campbell

yes, it appears to have some geometric influence there, I learned some of my first lessons while working it out with giger art and tool music.
He uses airbrush fro most of his works, one reason why he hasn't been totally accepted here in the states - not sure why? he started a whole movement - biomechanical-
