I'm thining this as a total loss now, i'd love some advice from you on my recent thread in the A/B forum... i just don't think i added enough lye to basify it as i was using straight vinegar. I've purchased some PH paper for next time.

lesson 1: there is never a total loss unless you threw something away. Dmt doesnt just dissapear. If you think you didnt add enough lye, add more. High pH in mimosa soup makes it go black but im not sure if high pH in a salted solvent will get dark color, maybe not.. In any case more lye wont hurt, so just add more and do another pull with small amount of warm solvent. As for the yellow solvent which didnt precipitate, evaporate a lot of it, like lets say until there's only a quarter or a fifth of original volume left, and stick in the freezer again. It will work

Any tips for evapping out a jar?
I put it near a window & swish it every now & then but it seems to take ages, on a dish it would evaporate in about 10 minutes, it smells of DMT so im sure some is in there...
And your right i shouldn't have thrown certain things away as thats the only reason i might end up with nothing to show for this first extraction

Chronic wrote:Any tips for evapping out a jar? I already told you a few times. Here is the summary. Evaporation rate depends on the following: 1. The liquid temp. 2. Ambient air pressure. 3. Airflow over the liquid surface. 4. Surface area of the liquid. Increasing any of the above will increase your evaporation rate. Choose your favorite. Listen to what endlessness said. endlessness wrote:As for the yellow solvent which didnt precipitate, evaporate a lot of it, like lets say until there's only a quarter or a fifth of original volume left, and stick in the freezer again. Unfortunately i ended up with nothing, either the DMT didn't migrate from the red naphtha into the vinegar, or i didn't basify the vinegar enough before pulling, either way i ended up with nothing as the Naphtha evaporated leaving nothing at all Maybe it was the vinegar, but surely vinegar is vinegar, as long as it's acidic the DMT should have migrated, i definitely stirred it enough, and i used straight vinegar so it definitely should've been acidic. Maybe i just didn't add enough lye to basify as it didn't turn black, it looks like i may not be able to do a successful extraction anytime soon, customs have started seizing MHRB coming into the UK.

it evaped leaving literally nothing or just some goo maybe?
also, how many vinegar pulls did you do on the red naphtha? And how many naphtha pulls did you do on the basified vinegar pulls?
Did you throw anything away yet?

Yep its all gone, nothing to save & unfortunately looks like im not gonna be able to get anything new to work with on a new extraction.
The Naphtha evaporated to leave a thin film that smells of DMT. I did 3/4 vinegar pulls on the Naphtha, each one getting LOTS of emulsion no matter how gently i stirred, the gunk left behind still smelt of DMT, i then did 3 Naphtha pulls on what i thought was basified vinegar.
To be honest i don't think the DMT migrated into the vinegar as the gunk left behind after pulling the vinegar still smelt of DMT.

Lesson 1: NEVER throw anything away before you get your final yield, it can always be saved. You threw away your goodies!
The thin film WAS dmt, and it always looks like its very little but its quite plenty when its in this goo/film form... Redissolving in small amount of hot naphtha and freezing would have yielded you some great crystals.

Lesson learnt I haven't thrown away the thin film that smells of DMT, at least that's something. I tried evaping in a jar but it wouldn't evap at all, i put it on a heater, next to a window, kept swirling it & nothing would evap or precip out in the freezer, so i put it on a glass dish.

I would suggest you just scrape it with a razor blade or a sharp knife. To see the world in a grain of sand, and to see heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hands, and eternity in an hour. - William Blake

I tried to give it a scrape with a razor blade last night and nothing would come off, its literally like a stain on the dish, nothing to work with really, ill still keep it & wait til i have a pipette to dissolve it in Naphtha & see if i can freeze precip it, i highly doubt it will yeild anything though
