After reading many posts on the forum there are questions:

A while back, my cat had some 6month old spice and decided to smoke it. The spice was A/B extracted with naptha and had not been re-xtalized or washed. When fresh it had been creamy white but then had turned to a dark yellow waxy substance. Upon smoking it, the smoke was harsh and taste was awful. Also the effect was different, less pleasant and without breakthrough. This can always be a technique issue but the cat swears she was consistent. After a bit of reading, the cat decided the dog must have converted some of the spice to N-oxide and that it was the N-oxide that the cat found unpleasant.

Recently, my porcupine had a batch of fresh but light yellow spice extracted the same as above. The fleas on the porcupine's butt thought it would be good to learn about re-crystalization and did so with 0.7g light yellow spice in 15ml of warm naptha. A very small amount of dark brown gunk would not dissolve (maybe 0.05 g) and the rest of the spice did disolve in the warm naptha thus turning the naptha a light yellow color. After a few hours covered in a deep freezer, the xtals precipitated. The fleas were surprised to see that the xtals were different colors. On the bottom of the jar were light yellow xtals but growing up the sides of the jar were pure white xtals. The two types were scraped into different piles.

The porcupine read this post and sees that others are concerned about white vs yellow:
GENERAL DMT » Information/General Discussions » Blind Taste Test - Yellow vs White

The fact that there were 2 types of xtals produced suggests there might be 2 types of compounds in the warm yellow naptha. I suppose neither are N-oxide because it is insoluble in naptha. Does anyone know what could be in there? I read it's useful to do multiple re-crystalizations, but this seems troublesome. I read about activated charcoal but that seems troublesome as well.

The porcupine wants clean spice. Any comments?

thanks...cker : porcupine : fleas : cat

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

your porcupine shouldnt worry so much about yellow spice and white spice. Tell your porcupine that yellow spice is not dirty.

I am positive niether you or your porcupine can tell the difference between the two in a blind taste test.

focus your energy on more important matters like keeping your extractions clean. If you do the extractions correct, to the letter, as they are outlined in the Wiki, it wont matter what color it is when you are finished.

Take your time.

Do not rush.

Follow the tek to the letter A-Z.

Proper dosing.

Getting a nice white crystally end product will come with experience.

This story about Cats and Dogs and N-oxide is probably bs. IMHO your cat is a liar. The dog prolly is also.

Proper dosing takes practice.

Take a look at using a GVG or a bong layering the spice in some parsley.

6 month old spice should not be an issue at all, unless it was stored in direct sunlight in a open glass container.

Practice your extractions start simple, STB. Re-X.

KISS method
