SWIM's is extracting from about 100 g torch. He salted his alkaloid-containing limo 3 times (with 5 cans of seltzer water the first time, and 2 cans of seltzer water on the second and third times), and is still collecting about 90 mg of solid per can of seltzer water used upon evaporation. The only thing that has changed is the color of the solids collected - the first were more yellow/orange, while the later solids were closer to white.

Is something going wrong here, or is it normal to require so much seltzer water? For people who have made mesc. carbonate before, how much seltzer water was necessary?

I will use enough carbonated water to fill the container that I am salting in. This allows the pressure to build, but requires a lot of water. I use less than a liter per salting. Normally around 700ml for each salting. From my very first pull on 100g of pedro, I pulled 546mg of tan/white sticky powder. That was about 1/3 of the total yield.

I would expect a larger yield per pull, especially from the first couple of pulls.

Hi people, thanks for welcoming me into the nexus forums.

Carbonated water often has other ingredients that are not on then label. For instance, I have a bottle with only "carbonated water" in the ingredients list, but the nutritional info says it has 120mg of salt.

Also an idea and a test:

Creating carbonic acid is childs play; try blowing through a straw into h2o. I don't have ph meters handy, but the net says you can get water ph down to about 4-5 by simply exhaling co2 into it for a while. The reaction reverses quickly. I tried to salt out of limo by blowing thru a glass turkey baster with the bulb off into filtered water. The water was extracted from the limo in less than 2 minutes after bubbling, and I recieved only 20 mg powder. The same limo gave 180mg of goods up to hcl water after that so it appears the carbonate did not work. Maybe as the carbonic acid reverts back to co2 the mesk gets sent back into the limo?

EDIT: update: I got a ph test kit to do some more tests... my tap water is ph7, and blowing bubbles through it for about 60 seconds brought it to ph6. It took at least 1 minute for the ph to register a change back to 6.5, so hypothetically exhaling co2 through water could be used to form a carbonic salt. I'm not sure why it didn't work before, but I'm not giving up on the idea just yet.

Shaolin, I've seen some success using a water/bubble blowing tek:

I don't think anyone has verified it and posted back, but I'm convinced the goods will salt out. It just takes more salting iterations and more time evapping than using hcl or a proper titration.
