I do not have a turkey baster and always trust my 10 cc syringe. There are of course some tips on its use:

A) Do NEVER use syrings with a rubbery end on the plunger. They will become swollen with the naphta and will make the job nigh to impossible. There other types of syringes (actually the cheaper ones) that are fully plastic and will have no trouble in sucking the naphtha.
B) In the last pulls, some blackish stuff may enter the syringe. Fear not, it will deposit in the end and you just wait some seconds for it to go near the end, and then gently press the plunger and get rid of it. Or do as I do: Just suck it as best as you can, without too much concern on what goes inside the syringe, and drop all the pulls in an intermediate recipient. After everything has been pulled, I go to the recipient and just take off (with the same syringe) whatever stuff is in the bottom, generally nothing more that 2-3 cc. This is pretty easy and with care you will get a perfect job. And with practice it will be very fast!

Hope this helps

No worry if you suck up any of the soup with the naptha, just collect all the naptha, let the soup settle to the bottom of the naptha collection jar and decant the naptha off the soup thats settled.

10ml syringe far superior to turkey baster, especially with a blunt needle. turkey basters are not only prone to spitting out solvent but have no real suction to them, swim uses 10 ml syringes because his 60ml turned into some projectile needle shooting weapon while cleaning it with water ... blocked needles are a hazard ...

I use two 20cc syringes taped together, that way the naphta doesn't come in contact with rubber.
