... does anyone play?

I just unearthed all my cards, and now we're up to magic the gathering 11. I don't know, I think mine are series 4 and 5... It's been a good six years since I bought them.

I play black, by the way.

I played back around 4th edition, very casually, lots of fun. A year ago I picked it up again and spent the summer fine-tuning my competitive game, much more serious that time, and a lot of fun also. I've stopped again, because it's so expensive and time-consuming, but it's my favorite game of all, this coming from someone who played a LOT of board games. The creativity and strategies are so rich, it's miles beyond most other games.

I used to play but i remember it was hard to keep up with things like pokemon etc... MTG always trumped them imo. Its quite a clever game. Also Dark ritual is one hell of a good card, I was ALWAYS black.

Oh yes, I love MTG. I had first played when I was about 10 or 11 but never took it too seriously. Then about two years ago, I found out a friend of mine used to play when he was younger as well. We got back into it and ended up buying a booster box to share. Opening all of those packs at once was like fulfillment of a deep childhood desire, hah. I got into the competitive side last time around but it just ended up being too expensive to take the game that seriously. It's also pretty time consuming keeping up with the new sets and what decks are being played. So, until I end up with a wealth of spare money and time I'll probably have to leave magic to rest.

I remember trading every magic card I had (hundreds) for a 1st Edition Charizard Pokemon card at school one day.
Then I Traded that 1 card for a Go-Ped from a different kid. Twisted Evil

Also, when I was that young, the cards seemed so mystical and mysterious to me. Beyond my capacity to even understand. There was this weird vibe from cards like that. I remember trying to play and never ever having any idea what was going on. It's a trip being young....I would just trip out looking at the pictures having strange visions pass by in my dome

I used to sell these things like it was a business. lol....buuut, then I got hooked and actually started playing the game, on gameboy.

Yeah, I know...sad.

Don't know anything about Magic the Gathering. I never got hooked on that.

I'm proud to say, I never ever played pokemon cards. SO lame. There were 17 year old kids playing it!

I did play it on the gameboy though, that was acceptable. What better objective for an RPG than to collect
wild animals and then fight them for prizes... ?

Yeah, I never played the cards. So lame.

But I did play the game, and that was lame as well, but what'r you gonna do?

I always wanted the game to be in 3-d and more interactive...and on a larger scale. God I feel silly. Rolling eyes

I played M:TG a lot about 10 years ago and actually really miss playing. This weekend I went to Comic-Con in NYC and was checking out the new cards. It was really tempting to buy a few packs and try to learn the game again.
My mind craves nectar day and night.
Like a blue lotus floating on the sea of love.
Lingering in ashantic realms
Lingering in the akashic realms
Lingering in, lingering in the realms.
Blue lotus floats, floating, floating..
Some laugh, some weep, some dance for joy.
My mind craves nectar day and night.

Apparently you can play online using "magic workstation" but I checked it out and it looks very poor. Also whats the point, its supposed to be a game for socialising.

Yea I tried Magic online when it first came out and didn't really care for it. You're right in that kind of removes the social aspect of the game. Plus I just enjoyed collecting the cards as well.
