Hello Forum,

When reviewing both Ayahuasca analogue recipes and other recipes (extractions, etc) that utilize Mimosa Hostilis root bark, rarely do these recipes specify whether one should use the whole bark or the inner bark only. For instance, an Ayahuasca tea recipe (for two) may call for 100g of B. Caapi and 24g of M. Hostilis. But what it doesn't specify is whether it is whole bark (minus the wood center) is ground/soaked/brewed (or whatever), or if it is purely the inner bark (highest concentration of components) that is used.

What is the rule here? Is there a rule? Obviously there will be a significant difference between brewing/extracting a certain weight of whole bark versus the same weight of inner bark, so what's the standard?

Thanks in advance.

The standard is inner bark as that is the vast majority of what is sold by vendors and used by people.

Also apparently the stuff which when blended looks fibrous is pieces of outer bark, whereas the inner bark will just pulverize easily to a fine dust.

I hope that you don't plan on using that recipe. 12 grams of inner root bark is a rather high dosage. In this case they *might* of been referring to whole root bark, because I couldn't see anyone recommending 12 grams of inner rootbark.

As can be seen in Endlessness's "Different forms of ingestion and dosages" topic (found HERE) a much lower dose should be used.

ORAL (WITH MAOIS):
3-9g (Some people report even 3g as strong doses. Start safe at no more than 3)

Mimosa is fully active, when prepared properly, at the 0.5-3g range. Be cautious!!

I believe there is a difference between the outer and inner vine bark for Caapi (one is more sedating and one is more psychedelic, but I forget which is which), but in the case of Mimosa, inner rootbark is what you'll need, and most likely, all you should find from vendors.

Cheers. Smile

Minxx...people use Caapi rootbark? This is news to me...how does it compare to the vine itself?

And yea...as people have said, that dose may be a tad high as far as DMT goes...then again those cosmic catapults can be truly magical. Just realize that you're talking about ~480mg of dmt in that brew. Personally I've only been out in those types of waters once and while it was faaaaaaaaaaaar beyond anything I'd ever experienced before (or since) I wouldn't trade that experience for the world (then again, I probably wouldn't knowingly do it again either). But with a recipe like that you need to ask yourself if you are prepared for a 30-45+ minute deep breakthrough followed by hours (ime, 5-6 at least) of a +++/++++ level experience.
