My house and backyard are just a little snack for the monster 400 million ton morning glory plant that's decided to take over. flowers, flowers, everywhere. but where are the seeds???? i read one time that when the flower wilts it will leave a little "pouch" or something behind and there will be a few seeds in it. i grew up in a morning glory infested town and never once have i seen seeds being produced from the these plants. are there strains that don't produce seeds? or am i blind? dragon-n attached the following image(s): IMG_3198.JPG (2,092kb) downloaded 253 time(s).

I have only grown heavenly blues. thanks for the reply. i'll go look a little more closely. just heavenly blue here too. though i haven't grown them here so much as i've been tied, gagged, and bound by them. the vines are starting to send "troops" out and threatening my cactus gardens with a take-over strategy. i'm starting to give the MG vine the evil eye. "don't you dare come near my children you tryptamine-bearing snake." is there only a certain time per year they seed? ethnobotanical supplier seem to have endless supplies of MGS, so i would think they seed readily. pictures would be most helpful if anyone could post this "green ball with pointy ends."

are you sure your monster plant is Ipomea Violacea? I think its the more thriving Ipomea Purpurea , its hairy isn't it? Had he more quickly realized just who they were,he would have shown them more respect.Had he tried harder to fathom their brilliant minds,he would have taken more of their teachings to heart.Had he more clearly understood the purpose of their being, he would have more vigorously tried to assist them. They were truly honorable; he was sadly prejudiced. They were exceedingly well informed; he was grossly ignorant. They were totally indefatigable; he so often, and so quickly, gave up. Still, for many years there was a strong inter-species alliance between the Eleven-Eleven of the Half-way Realm, their Seraphic Associates, and their flesh-and-blood friend, a common mortal. thats funny i was in my garden today and harvested a batch of seeds. they are in dried, sometimes not so dried pouches as someone mentioned. they are hard black nuggets. this is the time to get them The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible. I have grown a whole lot of them purpureas (grandpa otts) (got themfrom a head shop as morning glory) they grow like hell. --- i figured they must be inactive ...havent done a test on my seeds either. why would everyone recommend heavenly blues which are really a bit more fragile in growth and appearance (mostly wanna grow upwards) it really is a different plant - heavenly blues are not hairy at all. rather smooth with green "pseudo spines" Heavenly blues get violet over the course of the day ,hence they are called violacea. Dont know if the the flying saucer (big white flowers)behaves the same (there is no Ipomea violacea with purple flowers afaik) Ipomea purpureas seedbulbs are rounder and have more seeds compared to Ipomea Violacea/tricolor. Ipomea purpureas are often being sold in multi color mixes and often come in purples and pinks hence they get confused with tricolor/violacea . Exactly the same thing I was about to make a thread about. My question has been answered but I'll share a couple pics of my plant that isn't doing so well now that I had to bring it inside while my porch is being redone. Jesus christ dragon! That vine is going to swallow your house whole!!! But seriously man, is it just an optical illusion or is the vine taking over the attic and popping out a little to the right?? Watch out man, it might slowly creep up while your sleeping.. I dont trust it either man...

Hi all, What can be done to maximize harvest via morning glory, if anything? Thanks in advance. 'What's going to happen?' 'Something wonderful.'
