Do you like fishsticks in your mouth? “Right here and now, one quanta away, there is raging a universe of active intelligence that is transhuman, hyperdimensional, and extremely alien... What is driving religious feeling today is a wish for contact with this other universe.” ― Terence McKenna

Seems a bit egoic, but the song is called "power," a key driving force for humans which fascinates me personally (how some people want it while others don't, what does it mean to have power). I think the imagery is archetypes that exist in all our subconscious. People forget/don't realize that hip hop is made for people like us, for the "youth culture" with the intent to inspire.

Kanye is known for his arrogance, so this image of him in the video isn't too surprising. And about hip hop... i agree. it is definitely inspiring for the youth culture. personally, i can say that it has inspired my career choice (working in the music industry) and has at one point or another inspired every aspect of my life - food, literature, socializing, material things, etc. And not only that, but i can thank hip hop for introducing me to older music by way of sampling! Although many people hate on the current status of hip hop music, it's still a driving force in our culture. after all, hip hop is a billion dollar industry. and that may be due to the fact that the subject matter of almost all its songs are directly correlated to what's going on in the youth culture. Anyway, here is an article i found discussing the imagery of the video!just be yourself... everyone else is already taken

Anyway, here is an article i found discussing the imagery of the video! Right on. It just really "grinds my gears" how many people think hip hop has no value. Music is art because it can be interpreted by the individual. Anyways, here are some intriguing lyrics from his song. I just needed time alone, with my own thoughts Got treasures in my mind but couldn’t open up my own vault My childlike creativity, purity and honesty Is honestly being prodded by these grown thoughts Reality is catchin’ up with me Takin’ my inner child, I’m fighting for it, custody If anyone would like an in-depth look at the place of hip hop in society, read "Do You," by the vegan "yogi" Russel Simmons, founder of Def Jam records.
