Hi, i grafted a L.williamsii about 2 weeks ago on my T.Pachanoi and now the pachanoi has gotten much lighter,some parts have a white fertilizer like appearance
and when i touch the pachanoi ,its very much softer than usual,also the sides of where i cut for the grating ,are pretty soft .
Is this normal ? is it dying or what ?

Any advice or thoughts on whats going on will be helpful

soft is bad, and probably means its rotting. is it really soft and squishy? if so, surgery maybe in order. sorry to say, death is a possibility...lets see some pics,

is it well rooted?
what kind of dirt? describe all components
have you been watering it? or fertilizing it?
growing inside or out?
temps, hours of direct sun per day?

Its soft and squishy. exactly at the same spot that looks saggy on the pic.

im not sure if its well rooted ,i repotted it sometime ago.
the dirt was a mix of 1 part soil 3 parts sand, i know the mix is bad but i totally forgot to change the soil mix.
ive been watering it and i gave it some fertilizer for the first time in its life.
growing outside ,temps vary ,im in canada so its ups and downs but these days its really high temps.
for the past few days , the temps have been 86 degrees farenheit and over.Super Hot days.And its in direct sunlight for about 8 hours or more per day ,depends,
since i bring it home at night so the racoons dont try to get high off of it.

its definitely rotting,damn my first successful graft and the stock is rotting.
Sad,plus my pedro was growing so nicely and was not so soft before grafting it.
I still have the other end of my peyote could i regraft it on that or its better i just let the peyote dry up and root it ?

looks like it MIGHT be ok
, it if turns black, and liquid builds under surface you might need to remove scion and re-graft etc.
just keep an eye on it, dont water for a while,
let it dry out, and give the graft as much light as possible(w/o sunbruning the poor thing)

if the stock fails, get another stock, or root the button
cheap mytrillo cacti from bigbox store/nursery??

ps, the "stump" can be grafted upside down turning one pete into 2 grafts

i dont water the stock for 2-4 weeks after grafting. leave head in bright spot, not full sun
