Everyone mentions DMT, LSD etc..But tool was at one point most known for salvia divinorum use and was one of the first sources for information about salvia to many people I knew back like, 6-7 years ago... Obviousily they were/are? into DMT and LSD as well.. Personally..I used to be literally obcessed with Tool and Perfect Circle..but for some reason I cant get into it so much anymore..some people actaully smoke DMT to tooll...god I dont think I can do that!..I prefer ambience when I smoke..with mushrooms they are okay at times..but it gets to be too much also..comming down Tool is nice though. Long live the unwoke.

Something else..One must listen to their music through good headphones! Saw them live in New Orleans in June and it was awesome and acquired my avatar while there In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order..Jung All above writing with the exception of Dr. Jung's quote is pure mushroom encrusted cowpie!

Tool is one of my top fave bands of my generation, and IMHO one of the most complex, deep, and introspective bands since the likes of Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull. I've seen both Tool and APC a handful of times live. They definitely have a lot of psychedelic influence to their music, and there is no doubt in my mind that they're quite experienced in DMT, among the many other substances. With that said, their music & lyrics cover WAY, WAY, WAY more than just psychedelic experiences no doubt. If you don't own the actual 10,000 Days CD, it's worth the purchase. There is a 3D bi-focal viewer thingy that comes with it that allows to see Alex Grey's, and other album artwork in 3D. I've often wondered if Maynard might be one of our beloved Nexus brethren. Peace, -idt I am not a drug addict seeking escape from reality. I am an explorer of consciousness challenging consensus reality.

I like the music but is not a big fan of the singing or the lyrics. Can someone recommend any instrumental songs with them?
Thanks!

Thanks! There is a string tribute to Tool that is just music with no lyrics. Most of the Tool CD's have at least one instrumental track on them. Convert a melodic element into a rhythmic element...

Hi, Tool is (was) a great band! You know, you buy an album, you listen it for a while and you love song 1,4,7... Than you listen it more and you sure that best are songs 2,6,8... As you listen it more and listen to lyrics properly you realize that whole album is great, which is rare in any genre. I enjoyed each album for very long time because of it's quality. It usually took them 5 years to produce next one each time...true artists and professionals. Here is nice video with tool music (I think everyone knows this already ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYNaDcYGaeI

Tool has been my favorite band for some time now. Incredible music, deep meaningful lyrics, and absolutely insane live shows. I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow to feel inspired, to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human. Mention this to me Mention something, mention anything ... and watch the weather change. So crucify the ego, before it's far too late To leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical, And you will come to find that we are all one mind Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable. Just let the light touch you And let the words spill through And let them pass right through Bringing out our hope and reason ... before we pine away. This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality. Embrace this moment. Remember. We are eternal. All this pain is an illusion. Just some of the lyrics that really speak to me.

Oh, great album that 'Lateralus' It toped most of the charts that year (Billboard num 1.) I like those intros by 'Lustmord' between songs (I love industrial, dark ambient music) Probably best Tool album, really meditative quality to it, intelligent lyrics. And I forgot, I attended their '10000 days' tour 5 years ago in Europe and it was incredible! Great sound, very well played, sang, visuals. It felt that Carey was best drummer I ever heard at the time. 'Life is an illusion designed to keep your mind occupied while you are digested by God.'

Long time fan. First time I heard them was way back in grade school (so long ago, I was so young ). Before their Undertow album came out. I liked them, thought they were great and would make some great records in the future. Opiate was great, but Undertow blew my mind when it came out. Listened to the tape until it broke. Had my first psychedelic experience to "Disgustipated". When Aenima came out I was ripe and ready for it. That entire album is burned into my memory. When I put it on now, so many memories surface of my teenage years. It is still, and probably always will be, my all-time favorite album. I will probably always be able to recite the lyrics to "Third Eye" in their entirety. Lateralus actually took me a bit to fully get into, as at the time I had taken a departure from psychedelics. I still love it, but it's probably my least favorite album. Some great songs, that's undeniable, but just don't have that emotional connection. 10,000 Days was also released at a great time for me personally. Had just started to get back into psychedelics, having just recently found Salvia for the first time. That album also has some great memories attached to it for me. Especially Rosetta Stoned. It was sort of an anthem for the end of 2006, and all of 2007. To say I'm a fan is putting it mildly of course. I believe they still have at least one more album in them, and as always, I'm eagerly anticipating it.

I've been a Tool fan for several years now and I still love them. I tend to not listen to them as much because their material gets old after you hear it a hundred times. Tool in combination with Bill Hicks (Third Eye) introduced me to alternative theories of reality and the use of psychedelics. I was Christian before. So, I'm a convert in a sense.
