The first screening of the documentary DMT:The Spirit Molecule will be held at Alex Grey's Chapel of Sacred Mirrors on September 26. And we are looking at an October release date for the film.

I wasn't expecting to see Joe Rogan presenting this.

I am really looking forward to see this movie! I have to admit, however, that I fear the movie will continue to spread the rumor about DMT being produced in the pineal gland. This simply isn't true, as the gene coding for the enzyme INMT - which is needed for the biosynthesis of DMT - isn't present at all in the brain. The pineal gland may play a role in the use of DMT though, but that's only speculation.

I've got a feeling this is just going to be a shiny carriage for speculation, rather than an outlet for any real new information.

I'll still watch it though.

Is there any screening scheduled in Europe soon?

Did anyone end up going to the screening? If so how was it?

I went to the screening at Alex Greys place. The film is very open ended and of course heavily speculative . Some great descriptions from some of Strassmans experimental subjects. Some beautiful impressions of the experiences. There is a wide range of opinions expressed.
Beautiful visuals throughout the movie.

The overall impression i came away with after hearing so many people talk about entities is that its sounding more and more like an external reality of some kind. A reality inhabited by beings. Strassman actually eluded to this in a Q & A after the film.

Strassman also addressed the pineal gland thing and said flat out that alot of his " theories" listed in Spirit Molecule have gotten missconstrued and he regrets that happening.

Overall I heard nothing I didn't already know. I only worry that as people see the film they will want to experiment more with DMT .
The film is a pretty amazing sales pitch for the stuff. This is where a site like NEXUS becomes of paramount importance. People need intelligent guidance on the proper precautions and use of DMT. There could be alot of negative repercussions as DMT moves more into the public eye and people abuse or use it without proper guidance. I hope this doesn't happen.

Was this in the Q&A or actually addressed in the film? At a minimum I hope it was either left out or made clear that it is all speculation if any pineal ideas were in the film.



Yeah personally I would be surprised to learn much from this, but of course that is coming from someone who has read tons and tons of books on psychedelics in general and anything on DMT (as well as this great forum) as can be expected of someone who joins this forum. I too hope it won't become too huge just because it could lead to too many people to be reckless without really understanding what they are getting into.

Looking forward to seeing it when I have a chance.

I remember that in this video, in the Q and A section, some woman asks Dr. Vollenweider if he has already had a psychedelic experience.

First thing that pops out of his mouth (in 0.5 miliseconds) is: "My research assistants have." while rising his eyebrows.

then the woman insists that she is interested about HIS experiences... so Vollenweider says: "What do you think inspired me to do this research?. I hope your question has been answered. Next question."


Funny as hell.

Of course it will be. Just a remixed, updated version of the book. A documentary would not be the proper way to communicate new findings. Of course, I'm sure it'll still be interesting for all of us, to see where we fit in with the opinions and experiences. I think the real issue is not so much the film itself, as we already know of Strassman's approach, but with its repercussions on the public. I think it'll bring a lot of people here, it'll contribute to DMT's popularity, but maybe not as much as some people fear. Rarely do documentaries become very popular. They tend to be watched by a set of people who are already 'into' subcultures in one way or another. Your uncle will not see this film, unless of course your uncle is the strange geeky guy in the family. And kids will not see it either, they'll be busy behind the BIG cinema, smoking cheap joints before Inception.

So who is this movie for? I think it's precisely for the type of people who might be interested in DMT, and that's a good thing.
