last week i carefully hammered 100 grams caapi vine and prepared my brew with perfectly ph balanced distilled water. for 3x 3 hour brews reducing done ti 1.5oz. no admixture. drank on a very empty stomach at 945pm.

first i just want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me get this far, your knowledge and experience has been much appreciated. much love.
here we go, short and sweet

i was pleasantly surprised at the taste, to me it wasn't that bad at all. i think this helped with holding it down because i was able to for well over an hour, possibly 2. the firstb 45 min i watched some Terrence mckenna lecture and noticed just a little body warmth like getting a hug with a blanket out of the dryer. at about 1 hour i got up to use the bathroom and noticed things were kicking in for sure! i had already gone through the whole "did i take too much" anxiety by this time and was in a good place to receive the gift so i lyed down on my bed with some shpongle playing in my prepared setting.

i was thinking to myself how good i felt! zero nausea!!! getting into deeper and deeper waters as the time passes. i then made the fateful decision to try to get to my water i left by the computer, damn!
ill just say it quickly became obvious that a sitter would be a great thing. i was stumbling pretty bad and almost fell on my dog . well this movement sure did awaken the stomach. i lead my self to the bathroom holding on to whatever i could and began my first purge.

i got back to my bed and layed down. by this time i felt pretty horrible nausea wiase. i was still in a good head space but the nausea and foggyness were a little hard on me. after about 30 min i got up and had to purge again. this time it was getting a little rougher, i was having a real problem not falling.

this cycle repeated one more time about another 30 min later. the final purge was out of BOTH ends. its a humbling feeling sitting their using the toilet and puking in your underwear.

after the 3rd purge the visuals were at their peak. lights and pixie like twinkling spectacles were randomly flashing about. some times i would see the web like tendrils coming off my hands when id reach for the water. there was even a time i dodged a bird made of light that flew out of the candle at my face. very random visuals with no constancy to them un like mushrooms or lsd. sometimes they were there and others not at all.
for the remaining hours i just layed on my side in a fairly pleasant place. the nausea was fading away as long as i didnt move. if i did move too much i knew i would purge again so i just tried to lay still and enjoy. i would say i was in a very minor visionary state and then i drifted to sleep. a very beautiful exit.

my over all thoughts were im glad i went with 100grams even though it was a rough ride. i would say i could and will handle more but because of the nausea i will have apprehension. i also couldn't imagine having used an ad mixture last night. im so glad i didn't! i had 25mg dmt in lemon juice standing by but it was obvious in the first hour i wouldn't be taking that.

its not the type of experience i would jump right back into tomorrow but im sure in a week or 2 ill be ready for the next step whatever that may be.

namaste

thanks for the report. Did any kind of healing take place? Or was it just a interesting experience, kind of 'getting to know the vine' thing?

man that's a great question!
as far as healing goes i would say the purges felt very beneficial. like emotional toxins leaving my body. i have had this happen before during intense energy and shamanic healing work.
things never got very introspective like ive heard the first part of the aya experience can be. i never focused on my life at all. i think i was really just trying to stay on top of things and monitor whats going on with my body and mind. the nausea was really hard to not think about. it was pretty much controlling the situation for me. after the 3 purge i was kind of whiped out and just wanted the nausea to go away.
so maybe this changed that part of the ayauasca experience.

id say it was a very positive experience. as i proof read it i thought it sounded pretty dreadful, but it actually was nice. the purges were relieving and felt good, i think i purged more times and for a longer duration that most accounts i read. my purging went on for a couple hours.

i can say this. i can tell just by this one little session that the healing potential is HUGE! just the sickness alone was empowering to get through. have you ever noticed how we instantly cry after we threw up as children and sometimes some adults. throwing up doesnt hurt, in fact i think it feels good so i always wondered why kids initial reaction is to cry. i think its because theres an emotional purge happening as well when we throw up. i sure felt it last night.

i feel great today.
woke up at 6 a.m.!!!! that is pretty rare for me.

Very nice report, thanks for sharing! Im glad you had this positive experience! (I read it and I understand for some peple it may sound bad but I think for those that have felt the precious gift of ayahuasca, they will see how it has been very positive, specially in how you interpreted the seemingly 'negative' parts like purging and all)

I completely agree that the purging can be a very humbling experience. Smile

This 'groggyness' you had is normal with so high amount of caapi. If you use an admixture, you could even lower this amount. Go low on the dmt when you take it for the first time, no more than 30mg. It might be that 30mg wont do much (for me it would be very little) but for some people 30mg orally would already be quite a lot.

As for the water thing and the 'sitter importance' realization, thats why for those taking alone, its very important to prepare as much as possible. Keep a fruit and some water and/or juice at the reach of your hands, as well as some music if you want. Anything that requires you to get up and walk can be indeed too much work at times, better have it all at your reach. Also a puke bucket is essential to have near.

By the way, you said you purged both ends. Might I ask how your eating habits are like? I ask both in the days before, the day of the experience but also in your life in general.

thank you endlessness, your information has been a huge help and continues to be.
i am a very active person, fitness and nutrition are a large part of my life. my diet can best be described as paleolithic. i dont eat ANY grains, no sugar other than fruit, mostly i east meats, fish and lots of vegetables.
that day i had a protein shake in the morning followed by a bannana. in the afternoon i had some chicken breast and snow peas. that was my last meal at 430pm. i drank the caapi at 945pm.

i had a theory.... i scalded my first reduction i think. the other 2 i was very careful to keep it at or just below a boil. im not sure if caramelizing the sugars of caapi could lead to a harder time on the stomach.

well i've never tried aya (will do when ready), but i always thought it's best to at least fast the day of the experience. On top of that i read that banana's and aya do not mix well at all!

ive heard fasting is good but ive also read that 4-6 hours is adequate to not have anything in your stomach for ayauasca. i know there's no way in hell i can go a whole day without eating. even going 5 hours was pretty taxing on my system. im kind of ruled by my hunger Laughing

i didn't know that bananas were bad though, i wonder if 1 banana in the morning could effect the ayauasca 12 hours later.

I disagree both with the fasting and with the banana idea.

As for fasting, I feel that one gets weaker when fasted for long, specially at the end of the trip. I preffer just eating light during that day, and having had something small (like some fruits for example) a couple of hours before ingesting. Also imo this makes it better for purging, which can become difficult or specially uncomfortable if it has been too long without eating anything.

MAOIs and food do not really interact as the myth goes. If someone has problems with banana and ayahuasca, its their own beliefs and/or unique personal metabolism issue (just like some people are allergic to dairys or whatever), but its not something generalizable.

People blow this whole diet thing way out of proportion. Research shows there is no issues of interaction reversible type-a MAOIs like harmalas, and tyramine. What I do think is that ayahuasca gives a message of being healthy in general, having a routine with balanced diet. If one does that, there is nothing to fear. Of course there is a general good sense that if you are going to take a brew that has tannins and other substances which the stomach might feel more sensitive about, then having eaten a very heavy meal is probably not gonna sit very well and you might have a specially strong nasty nausea/purging. But independent of diet, purging can be a natural part of ayahuasca experience (also because alkaloids can trigger serotonin signalling in the guts which naturally cause nausea)

in case anyone was interested im pretty sure after reading more past threads i shouldnt have drank the sludge. im thinking this had alot to do with the amount and duration of nausea i felt. i didnt filter my brew as many times as i think i should have and there was a good amount of fine sediment i shook up and drank.
im brewing up a new batch as we speak and im triple filtering it through a t-shirt plus letting it decant over night this time. i hope to try again this weekend. might even add some chacruna....

Can you sight a reference for this? Not because I'm doubting you, but because I've never read about definitive research in this area. I would love to learn more if some has been done.
