Recently, my friends and I made for the nearby mountains to camp, make music and enjoy each others company. We brought with us some delicious locally brewed beer and all our acoustical instruments. The campsite we found was hidden from the forest access road and right next to a beautiful creek. There were mushrooms growing
everywhere (unfortunately none were psychedelic), but there were dozens of species, some with caps larger than my head. The place seemed
enchanted, with cotton floating through the air, excessive mushrooms, hummingbirds gracing our presence, and beams of light coming through the trees illuminated our campsite with soft yellow light until night fell. We smoked the best cannabis, drank our beer and jammed out for a few hours.
Around the time everyone started passing out, my friend talked me into taking the doses that I had brought up. I didn't feel like tripping up until then and it suddenly seemed like a good idea. It was timed so that the sun would be coming up around the time I was peaking so I ate them. I'm pretty damn sure it wasn't LSD. I felt very uncomfortable and twitchy and coming down was pretty unpleasant. Soon after taking it I was completely overcome with drowsiness, so I laid down in the tent. Next thing I know I'm waking up to go pee and realize my trip is in full swing. I'm not sure how much time passed while I was in the tent. So I allowed myself to be enslaved by the fire for the next few hours.
Soon the sky began to glow dark blue and stars started disappearing. My friend would
not shut up. He kept yelling at the fire.. "Yea!!
Destroy that f*cking log!!! WOOO!!! HAHAHA!!! It's SO f*cking hungry!!!" He is known for his ability to dump endless amounts of whiskey down his throat. I was quite relieved that I could see now, so I could distance myself from him. I hiked for about an hour and a half and every moment got more beautiful. I finally found a nice clearing. I sat down alone and became completely absorbed in the sunrise. I'm going to spare you any meager attempt to pour words over the beauty.
Here's where it got neat. By now the sun was up, shining down on me and my surroundings. I had termites all over me. I started to look around where I was sitting since it had been kinda dark when I sat down. I noted the morning dew on the foliage around me and reached out to feel it on my hand. After brushing my hand over the plants, I looked into my palm and there was a strawberry!
The interesting thing was that I didn't even pick it.. not consciously at least. I observed the clearing I was sitting in and to my delight I was surrounded by strawberries! None bigger than the nail on my ring finger. I picked a heaping handful and ate dozens. I felt like a bear. I hurried back to my campsite and shared them with my friends. IT WAS AWESOME!!
