This thread may need to get moved to A/B but I wasn't sure where it fit best.
I have a jug of Aqueous mimsosa solution. I acidified during the simmers although I do not know if I acidified enough.
I took collected soaks and reduced and basified and extracted and only got a 1/4 of expected yeild although it was nice spice.
Since I am not able to break the bark as well as I probably should ( will buy powder next time ) or may be didn't acidify enough I knew there was a lot of spice left. So I dried and froze the remaining solids and broke up a little more and then just did an STB on the remains and got a good deal of the missing spice and it was even very nice quality as I got a lot of the sludge out during the cooks.

BUt here is my question. I have 2 jugs full of basified Mimosa tea that I would like to reduce. I figure since it is basic, that if I use heat I will degrade the DMT to n,n DMT.
Can I re-acidify and then reduce and then basify again?
If I use HCl then the neutralization should only result in salt yes?
just some thoughts I am pondering as I have been working on old jugs of material that I hadn't gotten around to tossing and have scraped up another 3-4 g of good elf spice for my efforts. Don't want to waste the magic. Have to make the bark last so that we don't overharvest the source! Laughing
I for one do not want to be doing phalaris grass extractions hweheheh.

I don't want to be the one that brings the bad news but from the looks of it your DMT has already degraded to n,n DMT. And this is not a guestimate, actually I am 100% sure that your DMT has degraded to n,n DMT

Yes, but use a pH meter to be sure that you acidified enough.

Thanks for the reply, but why do you think the product has degraded to n,n DMT ( yellow oil )?
I got white spice from the A/B portion that I did. This is the portion I want to reduce via evaporation. It was good spice but of low yield. I got the rest of the remaining expected spice pretty much on the STB'd strained bark.

I have some other bark that I didn't break up well that was only acidicized and wanted to break up more and STB and pu it in the Solution that I have now that is basic but butmay be over aqueous and still can be used on this other unspent bark.
I am just doing some extra experimenting on some stuff that I haven't thrown away yet as I have gotten almost 4g of great looking spic from some other jugs that I didn't do such a great job on.
The key is breaking up that bark apparently and I had a hard time.
Next time I will order poweder but I currently have this unfinished stuff that I want to use up so I can get rid of it and then I ahve another K of this bark to break up and work with.

Sorry for all the info but I thought it might help and I am still myustified as to wh you think I have all n,n already.
No yellow oils of these last pulls I have been working with.

And does one dissolve yellow oils in nahphtha or heptane and then add zinc to convert or?

SOrry for all the questions. Still getting to know the Molecule better

I think you have nn DMT confused with DMT n-oxide. DMT is nn DMT Smile

Ah, I had an idea that was the poke involved! Now I get it.
I always was confused by that as many times I have seen yellow oils described as n,n,DMT in error
and was always confused as I thought the n in n,n meant methly. so always thought n,n, DMT to be redundant as if n,n, obviatesthe DM part of DMT no? DiMethyl?

H.S. Chemistry was a long time ago and I am showing my ignorance here but that is why I have often confused those terms and am still sometimes have to think to keep it straight
