I am all for follow up sessions when it comes to healing with entheogens. especially if the person is comming to it for soley that purpose, and prob will not be using them again after. It seems that this is how it is in peru where peopel go to work with ayauasca. Alot of the time people have 2 or 3 ceremonies spaced out over a week or more, and I have read many accounts of people saying that the second or third experience is where they really break through into all the psychological introspection..many times it seems the first time is more an energy recalibration..once they are more attuned to that sort of energy they can better accept the physical counterpart of the experience.

joebono: You mentioned that your father fought "tooth and nail" against the DMT experience... If he could do this with DMT, then he may do it again with mushrooms, especially on a dose of 2-3 grams. Perhaps you should prepare some DMT for this case. If he gets stuck in fighting the experience, you may give him a blast so that he can overcome the blocks and - hopefully - emerge on the other side.

(An alternative - and better - solution would be to be the perfect trip guide: find a way to pour the resistance into a graspable, manageable form and then help him get through it by dissolving it together.)

I'm now almost 20 years old and my parents are splitting up at 43 and 52. its pretty shocking that its actually happening now, dads always been an aggressive person, and my mother very manipulative. perhaps psychedelics could change their perception of their thoughts and actions, or help them realize who they are and what they've become before its too late.
Sir Terrence McKenna: "and what is real: is you, and your friends, and your associations, your highs, your orgasms your hopes your plans your fears... and were told. no. we're unimportant, we're peripherial. get a degree, get a job, get a this, get a that. and then your a player, (but) you dont even want to play that game? (well) you want to re-claim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers: who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash thats being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world. ¿where is that at?"

"But now technology throws a curve. and the curve is that we live so long, that we figure out what a scam this is. we figure out that what your supposed to work for isn't worth having, we figure out that our politicians are buffoons, we figure out that professional scientists are reputation building gravitating weasels. we discover that all organizations are corrupted by ambition. we figure. it. out... and as you come to see that you are alienated you realise that culture is not your friend."

Using psychedelics as a healing agent seems to be on a high rise as of late. When one person contemplates this specific route, they should consider various elements in indicating wither one person is ready to turn their traumatic life over to start the healing process. Common rule of thumb I've been told long ago is that depression and psychedelics do not match. It's one thing if the person's psyche is in a state to embrace the positive light to overcome their issues; but relying on a substance to break the shell is pretty far fetch, let alone dangerous since there too many inconsistent factors that play a role in a depressed state of mind. The substance should be used to enhance, not to change current conditions drastically. If one is looking for a drastic change, they should look up a professional that keeps a tight record of being able to help people in similar conditions. The whole experience (although I do commend you for trying to make a difference) seems forced. I agree with the others when they recommend preparing the person for the journey in the beginning. The circumstances stated showed that the emotional luggage the person wants to shed had been carried for years, and to change something that's been going on for years in one persons mind takes lots of preparation, effort, embracing and then transforming to turn around. Psychedelics simply aren't a miracle cure and can cause harm if one treats it as such. If the person in question is still willing to forgo new change, I highly recommend seeking professional counseling of the issue at hand before attempting further actions. Best regards.
The most merciful thing in the world... is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

I have always found it a bit weird to dose people who are straight...I dont feel it is my right to administer halluciogenics to people who didnt seek it out themselves...personaLLY i feel the desire to ingest these profound god chemicals must come from the straight...i would be overstepping my personal mark by suggesting they ingest...thats just my own way..karma wise

I've talked to my mother about changa and how I feel it helped me grow as a person. She seems interested and said she would try it. She at one point held very strong wiccan beleifs but doesn't seem to pursue them anymore. If she has done psychedelics in the past I doubt she would admit it. Yet she said she would give changa a shot. I just don't think I could do it. I would feel really bad seeing my mother freak out and have a bad trip. I'm sure watching your father in such a state wasn't easy. Maybe ill let my mom dip a toe in the water and see what happens but as far as a full on pharma dose definitly not for a beginner lol . Take care and I hope your parents can work things out.

dude did u try to kill ur father or drive him crazy? Razz what do u want from the old man, u could start him by 150mg harmala and 60mg dmt.. thats a huge dose for a starter..

u see now he thinks we are nuts because we are ppl who have potential feeding our families this high dose of some crazy drug. i agree with most ppl here, why not initiating a person with some shrooms or lower dose of dmt, who have agreed to go on in this path, to be able to understand what his son is chasing for.

I just hope he doesnt have some permanent psychological damage from the trip. And facing his demons is not gonna help man really, for sure there could be hope in ur psychedelic therapy if u have started him with a smaller dose Smile

THis is the 3rd story I've read like this, and I figured I would post a reply now, having had an experience in this area - I think an experience like this will be a useful catalyst for starting to explore one's behavioural cycles, emotions etc, given that he had people around him to talk after fighting it.

But that's all it can be my friend - it will never be the "be all, end all" by itself.

I think (cognitive) psychotherapy would be a good next step, or possibly freebased DMT, but if he's open to delving into my mind - he needs a trained professional to help me work through the puddle of angst you just helped to release.

Nice going though, I wish I could do this with my father - for different reasons - he's one of the most repressed people I know.

I think psychotherapy AND psychedelic therapy go hand in hand together.

Kinda funny.

People don't realize that, just because ignorance is bliss, doesn't mean that there's value in ignorance.

Pain is healthy, and it was gifted to humanity for a reason. I cherish the painful moments of my DMT journeys, even as they occur.
