About a year ago SWIM attempted his first extraction. SWIM was successful with the extraction, but did a hell of a lot wrong. The first mistake SWIM made was purchasing a mear ounce of MHRB. SWIM has no idea what he was thinking? Did he only want to try spice once? The second mistake SWIM had made was not purchasing a scale. This caused several problems along the way as you can imagine. The third mistake SWIM made was being impatient. He did a pull, and stuck it in the freezer. Upon seeing what appeared to be enough crystals (no scale remember), he took it out and tried to smoke it. SWIM had no idea how much he was smoking. The fourth mistake made was making a half-assed-pseudo-machine. SWIM really wishes he invested more time into making a better piece. SWIM also wishes he used a better container for the freeze precipitation. The container he used made scraping crystals a real pain in the ass. So, SWIM tried smoking his first pull while more was in the freezer. Needless to say, SWIM experienced NO effects. The remaining naptha pulls yielded a total that ammounted to far less than the first pull. SWIM had wasted all of his spice in stupidity.

Now I'm fully prepared to do things the correct way. SWIM ordered a killogram of MHRB and a milligram scale. Here's the thing...SWIM currently has a corner of his room that he doesn't go near for fear of contamination with NaOH. SWIM saw Q21Q21's tek for extraction using vinegar, calcium hydroxide, and naptha. SWIM would prefer to use this tek in order to avoid dealing with the anxiety/fear that Lye causes him. However, SWIM is still willing to use Lye if it will greatly effect his yield. Does anyone have any idea what the yield difference might look like?

SWIM is currently reporting consistent yields of 1.5% - 2.0% using q21q21 tek! Also, the results are VERY PURE WHITE xtals upon initial freeze precip. From what SWIM has seen, most STB's result in very yellow crystals during the initial freeze precip. Why spend extra time doing a tek that requires extra steps, when you can have pure white in, literally, three simple steps: add vinegar, add lime, add naphtha...done. haha

Both are equally nice.
