There's a popular program in Finland called Madventures that my Finnish girlfriend got me into. Basically it's a travel program that often has a comedic edge, as well as being quite educational and a bit of an eye opener as to how different the rest of the world really is away from Western society. It follows the adventures of two Finnish guys, Riku and Tunna, who go traveling round the world. They make a point of involving themselves in the various cultures of the locations they happen to find themselves in. One of the main points of the show is to distance itself as much as possible from Western cultures, and show what we can learn from other cultures. I think their latest series will be shown in the UK, and I've just come across this clip from their latest series. Here, they have traveled to Brazil and have taken part in an ayahuasca ritual, much to my surprise. I though some of you may be interested in this:

Even if you don't like this clip, the series is well worth getting into.

That's quite tastefully done actually.

I'm not usually a fan of "TV Ayahuasca", but these guys at least seemed to have the right intentions.

I just watched that again. As I skimmed through a few moments when I watched it yesterday.

It's such a good thing that they, as well as their experiences, report how this medicine can be used to exploit people for their money and the importance of finding a real shaman for this kind of activity. It's not that in depth for someone who has read up on the area of the sacred vine, but as a first introduction to ayahuasca, I much prefer this to any other commercial ayahuasca exposure I have seen so far.

Wow, that was actually an incredible clip! I have never seen Ayahuasca portrayed that good in a short TV clip. It is great to see that they don't refer to Ayahuasca as a very funny and cool thing to do, but rather an old and sacred medicine that probably will scare the shit out of you and needs to be respected. At the same time they actually manage to keep the entertainment factor up, so it is good TV even for people not really interested in entheogens. Great job! Smile

Wow. I liked that.

He said everything that needed saying, in way that cut out the bullshit. To the point, honest and intelligent. Good job Riku and Tunna! Wink *two thumbs up*
