Not saying you (still) are, but one should
not be ambitious when recovering the salting solution
It is no problem if some of the salting solution can not be completely separated from the NP, you wont lose any significant ammount of mescaline because of this. Just add new acid solution to the NP for another salting. If you do three saltings, then
almost all of the mescaline (that you
can salt) will be out of the NP.
Again, by being careful when recovering the salting solution you are not yielding more mescaline!
The priority should always be not to get any NP in your evaporation dish !!
Seriously.. be safe. Especially when using NP like xylene, get a seperatory funnel!
500ml sep funnel will do fine for mesc extractions.
