I'll be going to Waldfrieden Wonderland in Germany this year. It'll be my first time but friends of mine went last year and say they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Can't wait 'till the end of august. Cool

Germany is a wonderful place for these multi-day open-air events. I get a true sense of freedom there, unlike my home country where everything HAS to be thought out, planned for, delivered in threefold to the authorities, disapproved, objected to, approved, subsequently lost, then found and by the time the sponsors get wind of it, all spontaneity is killed. Then the speedfreaks move in and poo really hits the fan... (sigh) I wish I was German...

be careful though, cops seem to be appearing more and more in these german festivals. I used to go a lot to these festivals in europe since early 2000's, but lately have been taking a break. The most interesting ones for me have been boom, ozora and voov (back when it still existed), as well as some smaller unknown ones.

Many nice people to meet, good music to listen to and fun to be had. A few 'monsters' and weird people too, which can make for quite a freak show to watch when tripping, sometimes too much. Thats why it makes all the difference in the world to have a nice camping with friendly neighbours, and for the festival to be somewhere with good nature to escape to when necessary.

This year im not in europe for summer, but I wish you all that are going there to have a great time!

Ozora 2009 was a blast for me. My only nag is its so big. The sheer amount of people there was intimidating for me at times. However, the overall friendliness of everyone more than made up for that. I decided on FMF this year, because it was a standing promise from 2008. FMF doesn't rank too high in the nature-department for me though. There are very few spots with shadows for the tent Sad

Antaris Project here
Had he more quickly realized just who they were,he would have shown them more respect.Had he tried harder to fathom their brilliant minds,he would have taken more of their teachings to heart.Had he more clearly understood the purpose of their being,
he would have more vigorously tried to assist them. They were truly honorable; he was sadly prejudiced.
They were exceedingly well informed; he was grossly ignorant. They were totally indefatigable; he so often, and so quickly, gave up. Still, for many years there was a strong inter-species alliance between the Eleven-Eleven of the Half-way Realm, their Seraphic Associates, and their flesh-and-blood friend, a common mortal. Much was accomplished, many profited, and, there’s only one regret...They could have achieved so much more...

This festival is currently in discussion with the producer of the movie, DMT: The Spirit Molecule, to have a screening at the festival. It's a cool, low-key, hi-vibe 4-day camping festival that happens right next to a section of the Appalachian Trail in northern NJ. Seems like the perfect festival for this kind of thing to happen- www.evolvefest.com

If FMF is beeing held at Alt Dabber, then there should be loads of trees for shading, just get there early. FMF put on a good show, the Parvati stage will be goodSmile

Ah! You mean more the East, closer to the lake?! I'll leave a day earlier!

Parvati stage... Darkpsy was an eye(ear)opener for me last time around. I think I'll split my time evenly.

They killed all the good festivals in my area. Crying or very sad There used to be some MEAN outdoor shows with techno, hard trance, acid techno, aah, amazingly fun stuff...

...but now... It's all d'n'b with *BAD* MCs and happy hardcore. You know. 14 year olds spinning with glowsticks until they collapse into a puddle of unidentified body liquids.

A lot of the music moved onto club gigs and that seems to be the routine. Probably running away from the liability the kids can cause. Razz What your describing seems to be the commercial massives aimed to cash in. I've heard in Europe they rather do have huge parties that are not just about the cash ins, but seems the ones in the States have been over run except for a handful. I'm not sure which part of the world you reside, but so far where ever I've been, there's always an alternative to the big and huge. Sadly the good big ones do fade off rather quickly, but if you just want something cool that's smaller but where the atmosphere and music still carries weight, I'd say start looking for the underground events. Even if you are into the big and huge, the underground people get together and throw rather big ones from time to time. Just not as frequent. All this does depend on where you reside tho. Hope you find what you're looking for, and don't ever stop looking for fun. Smile

We've been contacted by the film-maker behind DMT: The Spirit Molecule and will be discussing with him today the possibility of screening it at Evolve Music and Yoga Festival (www.evolvefest.com) this Sept. I'll let you know how the conversation went.

Just spoke with Mitch Shultz, filmographer behind the movie "DMT:The Spirit Molecule". He wants to bring out the movie for a screening and public discussion. If anyone here is in the NYC/Metro area over Labor Day Weekend- please join in the conversation. I will keep all the info updated at www.evolvefest.com as it comes in.

Dnb is the best, cant be arsed with mc's right enough but id rough it out for one of the best genres of electronic music out there. Happy hardcore is evil though, dont know how people can like that immature nonsense, anyhoo mon the dnb! Razz

The festivals here used to be great too but now its all shit indie bands and minimal techno and gay electro Rolling eyes plus the people want to fight and cause trouble, plus its hugely over inflated, not for me!

I have absolutely no idea about the USA events. I do know that in Europe, if you can take 2-3 months off from whatever it is one does, it's possible to go on a magical mystery tour-de-force throughout the continent and visit many wonderful place meet new friends. FMF, Ozora, Antares, Spirtual Healing Festival, the one on the island in HU or Kroatia, don't remember, Vuuv or Voov, Landjuweel etc.etc. Personally, I can just have one or two a year, because I have MANY responsibilities to cater to. Some of my mates do this kind thing though. They just buy a bus and live the life.

But surely this is possible in the USA and other continents as well? One just needs to travel a lot.
Anyway: Happy times to all!
