I've learned an interesting thoughtmodel today. toughts lead to feelings, and the opposite is also true: feelings lead to toughts. Once I start negative thinking about myself i create "bad feelings". Once the nervous system gets used to chemicals which resemble "bad feelings", the body is "ready" and "expecting" these kind of chemicals flow trough the body. The imprint of the negative tought of the mind ON the brain produces the evil: Because the mind feeds the brain and the brain feeds the mind it gets confused with negativity if you FEED negativity. kind of a vicious circle, which can only be changed in the present moment. The method to change is: To imagine a feeling beyond your ordinary feeling/thinking and behavior. How would you be like, what do you want to express. Listen to intuition etc. It's something like reprogramming your whole body and brain. You grow new synapses trough new (good but also bad) toughts. It's like GROWING a new person from moment to moment. I hope you start too, to "improve" your life by being yourself and live to your insights. And always remember: DO IT NOW, CHANGE IT NOW, THINK IT NOW the mind always sais " do it tomorrow " you have to CHANGE NOW. There is no other reality! elusive illusion

It is one thing to intellectually grasp; it is another thing to DO. Doing leads to KNOWING if TRUE KNOWLEDGE is direct experience. Going to go think me some happy thoughts... Thanks for the reminder!! Some things will come easy, some will be a test

Good thread. I have wrestled with these thoughts for too long. I appreciate entirely where you are coming from Mr_DMT, the thoughts you are having RIGHT NOW create your experience. The viscious circle also applies when you realise this. The very fact that all you need to do to change is to change your thoughts, makes it more disheartening when your "lower" mind wins and you put it off again. I think discipline helps to change. I have found progress by motivating myself to do little things like exercise etc. I find this makes it easier to keep a positive outlook. Where did you learn this "thoughtmodel" from? Oh great - the world has just been replaced by elf machinery. Sic transit gloria mundi

I have struggled with this idea for a long time now. I believe we all follow habits and ways of thinking from the past. I always want to say now is the time to change, I really want to. We need to forget about the past, except for the fact that it led us up to where we are now. If you are not happy or where you want to be NOW, then begin to apply yourself, perhaps with positive thoughts, goals, determination and don't let any of your dreams or ideas be compared to past negative outcomes, it can change. This is why I like to believe that the past does not exist nor does the future. Everything is in the now, this is where you experience life, it also develops into the future if you want to look at it that way. By the way Mr_DMT, Buddhism provides a hell of a lot of information on this subject, as well as many other aspects, I suggest if you haven't already, look into it, you will learn a lot! "That which I avoid I will become a slave to, that which I confront I will master."

That's good. Well, this makes me wonder if I can overcome initial fear of smoking DMT or doing any other entheogens. Since culture and society have already instilled fear as well as many users reporting of bad trips or terrifying experiences, I get the vibe that doing certain things, my brain reacts to them based on thoughts and feelings. Im sure there is an explanation for the body to act a certain way, somewhere along the lines of placebo. Still interesting, I want to fully understand it, I guess that takes experience. It's just odd how some people like certain food, some don't, some enjoy certain drugs, some don't. The brain is so mysterious..as well as reality in itself. Yes, Joe dispenza is an inspiring speaker - I went to a talk by him right after being at an aya retreat with Ross heaven, he was saying very similar things to Ross, but using the language of quantum fields rather than shamanic... it is all linked, we need to realise how powerful our thoughts and intentions are.. we are all creators of our dream in physical existence. He said, don't get out of bed till you are the person you want to be! The past exists only in the mind, as the future... I believe we can even change our past, by re-interpreting, healing back in time. Good thread! All the best to one and all, change is now! balaganist is a fictional character who loves playing the game of infinite existence. he amuses himself by posting stories about his made up life in our plane of physical reality. his origins are in other dimensions... he merely comes here to play.

i have trouble with feelings turning to thoughts. i see this to be flawed, if not enlighten me. I feel that feelings are relative to situation. Situation being your surroundings and thoughts. With every thought comes an emotion, but to have a feeling come before a thought, that shows shallow thinking, and the inability to control the mind and ones thoughts. If one is to achieve who they are, the first step is meditation and concentration techniques such as jhana. of course this is personal opinion. Once one has these i feel they have the valid ability to look upon them self and create an image of who they are currently, who they were in the past, look at how they changed, perceive their morals and their purpose, then create a future image of oneself. Once this is achieved, youve one the first step, knowing who you currently want to be, take note that this is always changing as ego is coming in, mind is coming out, and perspectives change. The hardest step for me is always acting. You must first practice insight meditation, look at your goal from as many possible angles, ask yourself the hard deep questions of why and what, along with practicing everyday to take a self check and practice doing the things that you want, enough time goes by and something may have changed. But it is a constant struggle, it is part of life, and part of its fun. Disclaimer: I am merely a figment of your imagination. I lurk between the deepest crevices of your mind, seeking distortions. I am consciousness, all that it true and pure. For I am no human being, I am a observatory tourist of all that is life. Everything I say is nothing but a just rationalization of what I say, although none are true events. Everything is changing, a constant loop, as am I

We can definitely train ourselves into better behaviours. I've learnt to deal with frustration in traffic by re-training my brain to view obstacles as neutral rather than negative things. My motive to change was the frustration and anger I felt. My reward now is tranquility of mind. The kind of tranquility I'm talking about should be illegal and expensive it feels so good, but it is mine for free now.
It's like training a dog in a way, but the ego becomes the trainer, and it is the subconscious, or whatever you want to call it, that is the subject. Some people may scoff at such duality, but I find it a helpful tool.

Sometimes I've had to fight negativity hard but it pays. Forcing yourself to think positive at all times is a very powerful method to change your life to the better. โโโโโโ

The big imporrtant part of this process that results in change has been left out.... thoughts lead to feelings, feelings lead to thoughts, and most importantly, ACTIONS lead to feelings. For instance, if you do good, you will feel good, if you are tired, you may feel like not doing anything, if you dont do anything, you will continue feeling tired, but if you do something, like exercise, you will not be tired anymore when you have finished. If you can realise your negative thoughts and feelings, then you can counter them with actions, which will litterally change your thoughts and feelings. Just my 2 cents. I did concentrate with this theory on changing the mind. Action is the logical consequence of any change of your thinking. If you like me to modify the top-post, please send me a PM or post another reply. So I can specify this theory even better. elusive illusion

It looks as if you understood it as "feeling lead to actions" but that is not what I intended, the point is that your actions can lead to feelings, thus using actions to change your feelings, rather than actions being the final outcome. It would be unneescesary to edit the top post, but I just wanted to clarify my statement for you. "Every facet, every compartment of your mind is to be programmed by you; if you donโt take the responsibility to program your own mind, the world will program it for you."

The idea of changing behaviors has been something of a personal adventure these past few years. I think will power is underrated. Quote:We can definitely train ourselves into better behaviours. This is exactly how I started out. I learned how to make things become transparent and neutral. I used to hate the sound of the construction workers using a jack-hammer. It's a difficult thing to explain but I let it pass through me and it doesn't bother me. As for changing bad behaviors I can relate to one thing in particular. I admit I have something of an eating problem. I'm not fat but I don't have an ideal body for my age. When I moved away to college I lost a ton of weight. Not only was I eating differently but I now had control to buy what I wanted. I usually don't have a craving for cookies when shopping so I don't buy them. Now when I get a craving for junk food, I cannot indulge because there is none. My other siblings always had junk food available. Slowly but surely the urge is disappearing. Addiction to fatty foods is probably comparable to nicotine. It just sends off sparks in your brain. My goal was to improve myself and my life. Not just my experience of it but how others saw me. I started doing the same thing with people I didn't like. For example, I used to talk about people in bad ways with friends. I'd join in on whoever they were talking about and give my input. As it turns out I had deeper problems than I knew. My personality was bad, I was turning into the classic "shut-in nerd who hates society". I managed to force myself not to play into their drama. I've learned to always find a positive attribute in someone. I realized this by taking DMT of course. It seemed to realign something inside me. The blissful after-effects reminded me of the purer things to life. The next day I felt better than I had in years. It made me realize just how miserable I was. I knew from everyone posting here that the old "me" would come out of hiding if I didn't change right then. I knew that by taking DMT I had to learn from it and change myself. Living with my "shut in" self after the psychedelic experience would be even more unbearable. Not really sure where I'm going with this but I needed to say it. I think based on my experience, a sudden or convincing shift in your life is the perfect opportunity to change yourself. It's like the feeling of starting a new school year. You start fresh and try to correct the mistakes of the previous grade. The problem is you need to have the tools and skills to make the change stick. If you don't know how to study properly then it might be hard to do better with your old methods. ====================================================================================================================================== On a deeper note, I think this has potential to further change the human mind. I used to be a terrible student. I was practically a (stereotype) pot smoker and didn't care about it. I was terrible at remembering things and couldn't listen to the teacher at all. Then in grade 10 history class it sort of clicked. I wanted to remember things, so I payed attention to every word and lesson. I took proper notes and studied them before the tests. I ended up getting something like 90%+. From then on it was like my entire brain function was different. I can remember things like I never could. I observe the world and take in everything. Things like a plant in the corner of an office that wasn't there last time I visited. Of course I'm just talking out of my ass here. I'd be interested if someone has studies or articles about such things. To prove something like this scientifically would be fantastic. Quote:sometimes I wonder, if people need these kind of advice at all. Maybe most of the people know this stuff already. I like having places to bounce my ideas around. It clears my head. This thread helped because I wouldn't have created my own for this little rant PS: sorry for ranting in your thread We're the new hippies, we get high on life, not drugs.
