I cant seem to get my spice out of my heptane anymore... ive gotten crappy pulls on my newest jug of base too. it is about 1000ml of water, 320g mhrb, 350g lye. my solvents (Bestine brand heptane and blue on blue labled haphtha every walmart/home bepot carries in middle america) are both becoming black when mixed. hot or room temp. honestly i think its so amber it looks black? when i fp this dark solvent a black sticky gew falls out. upon collection and being added to boiling heptane most of it visually goes into the heptane. it becomes amber with a black layer of tick oil at the bottom. at this point i have orange/red spice. if i heat the evap dish and cool it will produce snowflake crystals which are uniformly redish and not a concentric ring pattern of color gradient like is normally seen with contam.
fast forward 3 heptane clarifications:
so upon disolving .84g of brown/orange/yellow oily/waxy spice into maybe 20ml of boiling heptane i got the normal amber solvent and small oily layer at the bottom. i decanted with a pipette the clearest 85% of heptane and FP. its now been about 8hrs and VERY little has fallen out. with heptane it should have been done in like 10min. there is just a whole lot of suspended particulate with zero crystal formation.
i have tons of what seems to be oily dmt or n-oxide or whatever we have decided to call it this week. all my beakers are stained yellow with indole that is soluable in naptha. when i wipe them off i almsot want to vape the paper towles its so much. yet i cant get any crystals..
2 weeks ago i was producing white spice and red spice all day with no problems. now i cant seperate the two.
upon my first cleaning of my first pull, my shotglass of concentrated spice turned into orange/tan/yellow milky jello when placed in the freezer! i evapped it and added it i think somewhere to what im not tryign to get to fp. i evapped and collected it an set it aside. im pretty sure it got added to what im now working with. i took my almost gram of non white or yellow spice and all my spice saturated refuse products and added them for a cleaning.
i had about 20ml of heptane or naphtha in my jug and after 2 or 3 days it seems to have becoem the normal yellow tint insteead of black.
what happened? did i disolve a polymer or plastic into this somewhere? did i saturate ti with fats?
will adding more water to my base mixture stop the black solvent problem? should i just pour it all back into the jug and start over? haha. thankyou
