After some succesful extractions and having the technique down I've found that I'm getting little to no results at the moment... I scored a few kgs of Acacia Acuminata bark, most of which from dying trees (and the fresh bark is now a few weeks old).

I was wondering if age has any effect on the potency? I imagine the alkaloids wouldn't just 'evapourate' but unless I've got the wrong bark (unlikely), I can't think of any reasons for my lack of success.

It does definitely, though you should still get something out of it otherwise it's probably the wrong tree.

I couldnt imagine a few weeks would make a difference. I have successfully exracted out of bark nearly 2 years old.

With obtusifolia the age of the tree makes a difference. The older trees seem to have a way better alk level IMO.

Sorry, I meant the age of collected bark and it possibly deteriorating in 'storage'... Also, collecting bark from dead trees, any opinions? (I managed to get quite a lot of bark from dead/dying trees, I don't know if that's anything to consider(?)).

Im having the same issues with acuminata. The majority of bark collected was from dead trees and yeilds were small.
