if the bp of acetlydehyde is 68f can i not just make a tiny distillation setup and heat my peppermint oil/extract/essential oil to get a more pure reagent for later use? if so is it stable? i assume id get a mixture of alcohols and similar aldehyde if any are in the oil.

a Ferocious Visionary does not list acetlydehyde as a component of it's peppermint oil, why is this?

is this maybe important to the reaction into lsh? Three molecules of acetaldehyde condense to form “paraldehyde,” a cyclic trimer containing C-O single bonds. The condensation of four molecules of acetaldehyde give the cyclic molecule called metaldehyde.

"The drug disulfiram (Antabuse) prevents the oxidation of acetaldehyde to acetic acid, and it has the same unpleasant effect on drinkers. Antabuse is used as a deterrent for alcoholics who wish to stay sober."

^i wonder if it does this thru a chemical or a bio process. if its just chemical this could be useful.

1. You're not going to extract it from peppermint, not in a reagent grade form that is.

2. I don't know about paraldehyde into lsh. I doubt it though.

3. Antabuse is probably through a biological process.

If you want acetaldehyde, the most accesible synthesis would probably be the oxidation of EtOH with H2O2. You're going to need a catalyst too.

Also, if acetaldehyde IS responsible for changes in the high from seeds, you're probably not going to be able to successfully produce LSH. I can't see it being too stable in open air.

It is dangerous but you can pass some EtOH through copper at very high temerpatures and condense, this should give some ethanoic acetaldehyde, should be good for what you like it for. tossing a prescribed ammount of this into the tea should be good.... caution must be taken with consuming acetaldehyde.... there should be a lot of ethanol in the mix if you are adding some of this.

well i believe i will go eth+h2o2. i want to know if lsa+ADhyde produces the 'lsh' we speak of or if its something else from the mint or seeds.

be careful with that. make sure that you have removed all H2O2 from the product

Location: Not separate from the rest of the universe. So, everywhere.
Antabuse (disulfiram) blocks the acetaldehyde dehydrogenase enzyme while leaving the alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme untouched. So ethanol is consumed, converted to acetaldehyde, but it isn't further oxidized to acetic acid like it normally is. Thus, a significant acetaldehyde level builds up in the body and you feel like shit until your body can excrete it.
