Hi, I want to have an Iboga experience but I'm not sure yet if I want to do it by myself or at a treatment center which would be an expensive option but still affordable. The reason for me wanting to try it is social anxiety. I'm hoping Iboga can help me with this...

I'm perfectly healthy, the only thing I can think of when it comes to my heart is that when I had an operation in the hospital a few years ago they told me I have an unusual low heart rate. The kind of low heart rate that's usually found in professional athletes. I guess that's a good thing but since Iboga has a reputation of in rare cases slowing the heartbeat down until it stops.. I am wondering if in the case of Iboga this might be a bad thing.. I don't know, maybe someone can tell me...

Also, If I would choose the self-administiring route.. Does there exist some kind of guide that will explain the dosage and everything else that there is to know about a proper Iboga threatment to me?

Hi EverGreen.

A proper dose of ibogaine (and I refer here to the hydrochloride salt), such as is used to deal with opiate addiction, is at a dose of 10mg/kg for women and upto 20mg/kg for men.I couldnt say what dose would be used to deal with social anxiety.A proper dose should be done under the supervision of someone familiar with the substance and its effects as it is a physically and psychlogically demanding endeavour and is somewhat protracted compared to most substances we discuss here (apart from large doses of Datura).

As regards its effects on the heart,I think that if you were to do a proper dose a baseline 12 lead ECG (or EKG) is essential.Ibogaine doesnt slow the heart down but can cause whats known as 'a prolonged QTc'-this refers to a lengthened time between some of the spikes on the trace (actually it reflects an increased time between the onset of ventricular contraction to ventricular relaxation). This is important as it can result in dangerous ventricular arrythmias such as Torsades de Points (literally, 'twisting of the axis'Pleased; this is also more likely to occur if you have an electrolyte anomaly such as low serum potassium or magnesium-hence its also VITAL to have your renal function checked before going down this road.In the same vein, liver function is also important requiring a blood test for this as well.Impaired liver function, if of a sufficient degree, can retard ibogaine metabolism.

As regards your abnormally slow heart rate, have you ever had your thyroid function checked, and are you on any medication?

Hope this helps!
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Ok thanks for all the info corpus. A treatment center it is then. I already spoke with someone who does treatment (Lee from Ireland), and he told me I would be tested beforehand. So that will be taken care of.

Hello evergreen. I plan on doing an iboga initiation on the 7th or 8th of July by myself, well my girlfriend will be watching me. Ive had lots of help and advice from people expereinced with it on this site which has been invaluable and it seems to me you can do it by yourself rather than paying what £3000 for a clinic??

I contacted someone who runs a clinic and he was happy for me to fill out the forms get my electrocardiogram done and my blood tests and have him talk me through it, unfortunately he wanted too much money so I had to find another source. So really I have had help but I will be sitting in my house dosing myslf with support via the internet and maybe the telephone.

It is after all a relationship with the plant but of course precautions must be taken, such as getting your heart and liver checked out. I had to pay £85 to get my heart checked which seemed a bit excessive when I get free health care in the Uk but they dont do that on the nhs so I had to pay, hard life eh lol if any of my tests werent positive I wouldnt have continued with it, I cant afford to go to a clinic and in a clinic I get the impression all they are helping with is medical care such as nurses, im not sure if you get nurses in the bwiti tribal setting?? probably not. If you can afford it go for it with professionals but if you cant there are options, good luck! Smile

Hi Infinite Smile Good luck with your initiation.

I'd maybe do it at home if I had someone to watch over me but don't really have that so I'm currently looking at other options. You can do cheaper then £3000 though. Here's a list of treatment providers: http://www.myeboga.com/providers.html The owner of that site charges 1100โ‚ฌ for a simple treatment at his home in Ireland, but there are many more options.

Cool I seen that site when looking and spoke to a few providers and I just couldnt afford the prices with the people I came across.

1100 isnt simple to me though you know, I cant afford prices like that. All in Ive paid £390 for it, on my credit card. Im not doing it to save my life from heroin and then the price would maybe be worth it. I just cant lay out that much money at the moment for it! good luck, im really looking forward to it and the changes it could help me make!

Any kids reading this please note - Iboga is not a party drug or even a normal recreational substance.

This is a powerful, dangerous medicine that should only be considered after ample research and preferably consultation with a sympathetic medical practitioner.

If you have a bad experience on Iboga (which is partly the point of it) chances are you will be trapped in a form of hell you cannot imagine for a full day or more.

This medicine can rip you apart in ways words will never explain, if you don't need it don't even consider it.

& EverGreen - Bradycardia (low heart rate) can be indicative of resounding good health (for an athlete in a highly trained state) or it can be indicative of an underlying issue that needs investigation.

Please see your doctor before you undertake this.

Yes it went well all those years ago, I posted that 2010 lol was surprised I started reading this and seen myself was like eh?? lol

I thought I could have had a stronger experience. I took 5 grams of TA and it was intense but thought I could have gotten more but I got the afterglow I was looking for. Didnt really change me persay, but did help change certain behaviours that I fell back into but then realised again the lessons of iboga after some another psychedelic experience so all in all a great experience id jump at again.

Yes I agree but your going to be hard pushed to find a sympathetic medical practitioner in the western world, all I got was its an internet scam, its not peer reviewed, its dangerous, despite them not knowing anything about the dangers Rolling eyes
