Does anyone else feel this way?

I am so intrigued and excited about DMT. and I want to read everything about it.
Yet when it comes down to it, I don't really want to do it. I'm afraid to break through.

It's bizarre!

thats not that weird. Dmt and it's experience is remarkable but one doesn't need to nessecarily experience it (if not right away) to be interested in it. its not for everyone and theres nothing wrong with spectorial fascination. swim sort of feels the same right now. he's not interested in breaking thru again. at least for now.

Being in the proper state of mind, when you take hallucinogenic drugs, is crucial to the quality of the journey. There should be no things in your dailly life, distracting you. You need to take the time for it and you need to be ready. If not, the experience is not going to bring you any good anyway.

My buddy SWIM is scared to death of the stuff and is so beyond intrigued about it. All SWIM does is read more and more about it, he even obsesses about it and has trouble sleeping thinking about it but wont touch that pipe. He figures he will a few times a year for the rest of his life but it is almost too much. He's even done it at least 20 times and that fear is just there. and believe me SWIm got off all 20 times but in his experiences he's never talked to an entity, and it scares him cuz he's been to amazing places but believes he aint seen nothing yet.

In almost all aspects of my life, I like to leap in head first and worry about the consequences latter. Thats me, don't know about you Pattern or all the others.

If your looking for answers or are somehow trying to improve aspects of your life, DMT will not help at all. But DMT dosn't hurt and has one of the most peculiar and wildest experiances life has to offer. You've got this far Pattern, are you really going to pull back now?

Agree with magic clown. It is no more helpful than the taking the roller coaster. You're like WOW!!! after the ride but that's more or less all. (at least to a spiritually shallow fellow like me)

Strassman's study also found limited spiritual value on the spice - it can be life-changing to some people though, but not like, say psilocybin which can apparently be used to improve aspects of one's life.

I believe the DMT voyage is deeply spiritual. DMT taught me that anything in the world is possible...anything and this has been my most important lesson taught to me by psychs. I do understand how things like mushrooms that have a longer duration can be better teachers...but thats cuz u get acclimated and have time to think of things. There's only a millisecond between the known and unknown and sometimes all u need is a second.

I don't know about that, leaping in head first and not knowing can really get you screwed sometimes

i personally almost had a very bad trip on dmt, it was super powerful and gave me hardcore deep trip and shit, I was tripping so hard, I almost got lost just trying to get to my house and shit. I would see things and think my mind had gone somewhere into some backwards reality.

truthfully, it's a powerful psychedelic and isn't a joke, no other psychedelic would be taken so lightly, why would dmt?

the thing is though, like anything else, you'll never know until you try. if it kills you or makes you breath for the first time you in your life is something you have to find out

like any other psychedelic be careful and don't think it's a joke, it'll throw you down the stairs and you'll have trouble knowing if your acsending or descending or whatever when you hit the bottom

but this is an experience you won't know until you try it

good luck

treat it like any other trip, it's nothing less

No offense dude, but if you still go WOW from a roller coaster, you are probably not going to gain spiritual knowledge from any substance let alone shrooms or dmt. Roller coasters are fucking boring. Up and down up and down, yippee. You know what to expect, and you get it, it's 100% controlled, and hardly comparable to dmt other than perhaps the fear and then the exhilaration at the end at having gone through it.

We can't 'study' spirituality, but even less can we quantify it's value. 30 days in prison was the most spiritual thing that ever happened to me, while others would want to throw up at me even suggesting prison can be spiritual. They saw shit whereas I saw life. They saw a miserable future for themselves, whereas i was pondering the souls who had suffered, as I was, for their own beliefs or mistaken actions.... it was pure genius.

Ironically, the idea of quantifying spirituality flies directly in the face of everything I've learned from the spice: If you stick to pure science, you will stay stuck in pure science, and scientific knowledge in case you have not noticed, is quite limited. They still can't decide if global warming is happening for sure or not, many scientists disagree... so how can Strassman fit on DMT really amount to truth.

Let me lay this out for you with a hypothetical question: If aliens are communicating to us from another dimension through our brains, science is going to measure those communications with what exactly? Smile

The best they can say is "this or that part of the brain becomes active when" which to me is a lot like a roller coaster... yipadeefuckingdoo.

The fact is bro, God himself could begin speaking to everyone's mind in English right across the USA, but the next day even though 250 million experienced it, it would chalked up to "radio wave anomalies" because there is simply no tool to measure a voice as Gods and scientists are not able to express anything they cannot quantify, observe, or explain through theory: None of which can be done with entities in the spirit world.

Finally, and then i'll shut the fuck up i promise, if you are here, and i am here, and us readers are here, it is for good reason, and its not because DMT 'feels good'. There are no online forums where people endlessly discuss amusement park rides Pleased

I believe most of us found this place because we've been spiritually enlightened.

Leapping head first into something without thinking first is one of my own personality traits. It sometimes drops me in the shit but life is interesting. Most times it works out. Everyone negotiates their own way through life. That is my style. Your style may be different.

You can dress anything up as being spiritual. I bet there are some people who consider the execution of Sadam Hussein to be a deeply spiritual event. I spent seven months in prison. Absolutley nothing about it was spiritual. I spent most of my time planning how to get the fuckers that put me there. Wether you see spirituality in God, ayahuasca potions, prison cells, mushroom trips, fair ground attractions or killing Arabs, is totally a matter for each individual to find and answer. For the record, I don't see anything at all spiritual about DMT or any of the other molecule that makes you trip.

To me DMT is purley recreational, hedonistic fun. I experiance it in exactly the same way I do fair ground attractions. Niether more nor less. I know exactly what I am going to get. I am going to get an exillerating thrill, that is probably safer than most roller coasters. I like both and after both I am likley to shout out "Yipadeefuckingdoo"!

I didn't come here through or for spiritual enlightenment. I came here for information, both to give and receive. I have found a community of like minded people, some were friends already, others have become friends out side in the real world. I find communion with like minded people to be deeply spiritual.

This thread was started by Pattern, expressing his interest and fears with the DMT experiance. I don't know you Pattern. I don't know what you want or what motivates you in life. But you can see we are all different here and have wildley differing opinions on what DMT can or won't do for us. We all like it lots though and I think most will agree, it won't hurt you.

Whether roller coasters are boring or how they compare with dmt is not really of my concern. I have to admit though that dmt is much more wonderful than a roller coaster. And note that I never compared the two (please read my post again). Furthermore, "WOW" was meant to describe SWIM's dmt response, not SWIM's roller coast response.

Absolutely true, we cannot study spirituality just as what happens with all the subjective feelings. I can hardy tell what that is (I'm a spiritually shallow fellow, as I said!) and of course I cannot deny that there is something into it. As to where different folk find spiritual values, well, your words didn't exclude the legitimate idea that some folk may find spiritual values in roller coasters!Pleased

Scientific knowledge is indeed dwarfed when compared to the complexity of cosmos. We scientists never said we know the truth, we always try to discover what truth may look like. And we might be grossly misled most of the times. We do experiments and gather data. Data never lie, it's the way we interpret them that may drive us into false conclusions.

It is also poor practice to extrapolate weaknesses in one scientific sector (e.g. meteorology) so as to deny the data of other sectors (e.g. neuroscience).

Even though I do not clearly see how aliens communicating with us through dmt fits with spirituality, I have to say that yes, we can study it in many different ways. But please define a question first. Your question is rather silly, because we are not interested in "measuring communications". Better questions can be:

1)Is the dmt world an independent reality in its own respect or a fabrication of our altered brain biochemistry?

2)By what means dmt administration opens the gateway to this world?

3)Can we transfer information to other humans through the dmt hyperspace?

etc.

this is the most fundamental question psychedelics bring us too. this is and can be determined objectively through science (if the right tools are used which may not exist yet but that doesn't mean they won't even). in fact it has to be determined objectively because subjective experience can always be biased with ones own feelings about "life the universe everything"

also SWIM believes this question plays a role in peoples fear aspect of this experience. if one only has oneself to fear it shouldn't be that scary (unless you have many inner demons). if one really believes one is entering a hyperspacial reality with aliens chewing at his/her feet SWIM sees the potential for a legit fear. but the truth is no hyperdimensional being has ever physically harmed a human being in the psychedelic state realize that and theres not much to really fear. you can't die from the stuff.

Maybe the way our brain is functioning and therefore the way our consciousnes works, can be traced back to the basic principles of matter. This would not mean that everything perceived in special states of mind has to be real, but nevertheles it would tell us something about ourselves and our world. I would say that DMT reveals how we look at the world, what it means to us and what characteristics of ourselves are being triggered by it. This means the mathematical characteristics of our functioning as well as the psychological and emotional aspects. Instead of real existing other dimensions it would be rather the dimensional possibillity's of matter in space and time and our own attitude toward this, that we experience.

i had a similar experience , on dmt , i was @ work on lunch time i decided to have a hit instead of lunch
so i went to a really quiet place with the sun on my face , blues Sky's im feeling great, pipe , lighter ,spice
blast off, has im going @ light speed towards breakthrough my phone rings , my colleague needed my help
on something , so i got up , my mind geared to come back to normal , i felt in control of my movements
for some seconds until i looked to a nearby window and saw my reflection on the glass i was walking kinda like
sideways and not straight , but i felt straight , on my way to the place , which normally would had taken 2 mins , took me almost 15min , i was tripping really hard , it was hard to recognise the way , all the walls where bouncing and fractalizing i could see numerous patterns everywhere , and my mind would just follow them infinitely trying to
access what information was hidden in it , from that moment on , im having little doses times to times and just walk around to see where it leads me to , it's really inspiring and mystical, cuz you never now what you are going to see or
happen next
well that's me anyway , if you like to sit on your ass and smoke it , do it , but try to walk it ,
i assure you it is a roller coaster ride with alot of spirituality in it Cool

peace

Thank you for the great replies.

I am a spiritual/religious person and I believe in God. Despite that, I think what you have to say, magic clown, offers alot to me. Although I disclaimed that I am spiritual, that doesn't mean I'm a pretentious prick who frowns upon everyone for having fun.

I just find great meaning in alot of things, even trivial and seemingly mundane things. Its not possible for me to be spiritual all the time. But sometimes I am and that is when I'm in awe of reality. Can science explain that? Sure, why not. I'm also a huge proponent of science. I only think that religion is one's way of interpreting science.

In a sense considering a DMT trip to be a spiritual or religious experience is not something I want to jump all over. Authentic religious experiences can drive a man insane and obsessive. So, magic clown, your words are comforting in that I do not HAVE to expect such an experience.

I'd rather not be more religious, thanks. Fact is I've had such experiences and you pay the price for it. Gaining enlightenment is not all it's cracked up to be. Do I sound like a pretentious prick yet?

Well ... ONE day ... yeah, I'm gonna take a(nother) visit to spice land. I wont wimp out. Pleased

I view DMT as more of a scientific tool than a spiritual or inner teaching tool. The common psychedelics offer an experience of one's self and one's place in the universe, and beyond. With the spice I am rewarded with a greater appreciation and understanding of science and physics and complex ideas and concepts. For me it's not so much about learning about ones self and / or affecting one's spiritual beliefs, as it is about conceptualizing the complexity of what we know and don't know about this crazy existence. It drives me to want to know and understand more about how our world operates, as opposed to the understanding of inner spirituality. I suppose this is spiritual in and of it's self, but there is a difference. Hopefully I communicated this as I intended to.

I am not religious in the typical sense (I don't subscribe to any one religious belief), but I am both scientific and spiritual. The spice triggers the very scientific aspects of my being.

-idt
I am not a drug addict seeking escape from reality. I am an explorer of consciousness challenging consensus reality.

…is DMT dangerous? The answer is only if you fear death by astonishment… [crowd laughter]… Remember how you laughed when this possibility was raised… a moment will come that will wipe the smile right off your face.
