Okeydoke. Did a 100g extraction, this time A/B. No pictures sorry, wife was cooking, but here is the process:

STEPS:

0. Danced and sang til my throat was raw, played the New Starcraft2 beta, and smoked a couple of bowls.

1. Added mrhb to 2L glass jar.

2. Added ~500mL Vinegar to jar. closed jar airtight

3. Shaked, Rattled, and Rolled, till the jar was pinker than Tickle Me Pink

4. Let chill for 5 days, shakin everytime I thought about it (what a great idea).

during this time I did many things. Most of them were at home, which allowed me to shake the jar so much that I actually have a shoulder problem right now. TiP: do not shake the jar like you want to kill a baby. Shake it much more gentle.

5. Added 500mL water/lye solution to mix with 500mL water and roughly ~85g lye.

6. Agitated hard for 15 minutes, making sure to get all the mimosa that dried (or looked dried) around the jar.

7. Added ~80mL naptha, and rolled for 8 minutes. Set to separate (god it is SO easy to see in glass.)

8. Used turkey baster and grabbed naptha, came out nice and clear, added to jar, then decanted into martini glass.
8.5 set in freezer and went to eat food.

9. added ~100mL naptha, and rolled for 10 minutes. Set to separate.

10. Used turkey baster and grabbed naptha, came out nice and clear, added to jar, then decanted into a different martini glass.
10.5 added to freezer collection

11. Checked out martini glass, and it was already super cloudy, which I figured was a nice sign.

Just imagine how much time and hassle a magnetic stirrer would have saved you .

SWIM is gonna get one with a hot plate before the end of next week Trickster. He also just started ordering his glass, and researching soxhlet .

It took SO LONG for this process.. SWIM thinks he saw that heating the mix while stirring would reduce the soak time to somewhere around 2-3 hours, which would have saved him days :evil: . Not to mention keeping the mix heated, and gently agitating with a heavy ass glass jar holding basified material that looks like it might bust open at any time scares the shit out of him.

SWIM awoke this morning and was not surprised to see crystals forming on his glasses. HOWEVER he was surprised at the size of them; The crystals seem more like dust.. like the pulls missed a lot.. He know its only been ~12.5h but hmm..

He has a pull in there that he plans to do as soon as he gets off work. And then he will decant the other ones, filter the naptha, heat it and pour it right back in for another 2 pulls (leaving the last one in there overnight again.) Im sure this will get me the yeild I was looking for, so far eyeball estimation looks like only around 150-200mg/glass..which is a strangely low yeild so far.

Nah, im at work right now, and SWIM is sleeping.

SWIM texted me earlier and said He would be scraping the glasses around the 24hr mark, which would be round...630-7EST.

He will then decant the pull that is in the jar, and pull another one. then leave ANOTHER one in there overnight. and repeat the process tomorrow 1 more time.

edit: And SWIM is going to buy more chemicals today or tomorrow, and might as well buy xylene again. Though he absolutely HATES the smell of it. Its like mixing rat poison,naptha,gasoline,and a bit of death all in one can. Nasty.

oh well. SWIM needs more nap, some acetone, maybe some Fumaric acid if he can find it... probably not

Swim doesn't think it is that important for properly reduced amount of naphta (less than 1/5th of the original volume).

Being in a rush swim once freeze-preciped her heptane pulls for ~3.5 hrs only. Nevertheless 99% of spice crashed out during this time. Out of curiosity she evapped the remaining heptane and has got just a few tiny specs of spice.

After doing pano a couple of times she decided that a proper A/B works better. Pano is rather a presoaked STB.

Proper A/B allows swim to reduce acidified aqueous solution to a minimum and finish the rest of the process working with small amounts of chemicals. Last time swim only used ~1 g of lye to basify the reduced acidic solution from 50 g of mhrb to pH higher than 12.



Wow! That's a long time. Last time using a stirrer/hotplate and a sep funnel swim did 4 pulls in less than 2 hours.



Yeah, that's way too little. With all the shortcuts and screw-ups swim managed to get 0.67 g from 50 g of mhrb (1.34%).

SWIMs going to do a different A/B Next time(probably tonight ). No probs with this one but as you mentioned, it does seem like a presoak instead of an actual A/B.

SWIM will also remember to keep his mixture unbelievably hot. Hell keep a hot water pot boiling the whole time with the mix inside of it. SWIM thinks that this will decrease soak time, and increase yeilds. Would SWIM have add water/lye mix? or could SWIM just pour the lye straight in?

First yeild: 311mg

second yeild: 217mg

third one is still in freezer, and a forth still in the jar.

Working only with small amounts of acidic aqueous solution, swim requires very little lye. Usually she prepares a dozen milliliters of strong basic water solution separetely. Then she adds it dropwise to the acidic solution while watching pH going up until it reaches at least 12.

Wow I didnt know it required so little lye.. SWIM will definitely try using less..

3rd yeild: 178mg.

4th pull in the fridge, looks extremely dank.



SWIM is preparing another one, hopefully he can get limo quickly.

Nothing makes it better than a normal STB, except for the fact that its an A/B.

Acid soak helps to break down cell walls, and increase yeild. STB, while good, is obselete to me now! Mwahahaha


As for muriatic acid, Go for it ~.o make sure you get pH to ~3.8-4

I've put tuday the MHRB, 50 gr, in 1 lt. pH 4, more or less, distelled water with muriatic acid. It looks a veeery dark pink to me, now =)
