Once again we got a nice batch of mirrah - this time i took some pix of the situation because a lot of ppl expressed interest in it.

The communal bowl of khat

The khat itself

another few friends arrived - more got added (lots had been eaten allready)

end of the munching

note the jar of stevia leaves (i figured this out on this evening - a stevia leaf added to a chat tarzeena(quid) is so damn nice.)
traditional clove and cinnamon tea goes down well - or even yerba mate

properly munched twigs

beetam mihrkhana all.

Seems like you guys had a nice time, thank you for sharing! How much do you need to chew? And isn't the taste unbearably bad? I always thought so, and therefore never even considered khat as a good substance...

bah - the taste is lovely - perhaps aqired tho.
i loved the taste the first time i had it - friends took just 1 experience to warm up to the taste.
smelling that smell in other plants makes me feel good even

the khat varies tho - the color and taste varies too - this batch as u can see is kinda purplish - its bitter and strong as hell.
other times it ligher - almost pink red and with thinner leaves - that one is strong as hell but gives a more intense body buzz too - it tastes far far sweeter and nicer.

i must say i dont like stimulants in general - khat is great tho - and a great full body cleanser.

Catha Edulis is an incredible entheogen which sparks the sharing of knowledge with fellow folk like no other.
It was an incredible night of sharing, clarity and purification of body and mind.
Definitely one of my favourite entheogens. <3

on quidding - i grab a handfull and load up my cheek for about half an hour - then chew that for another while until it looses all taste then i wash it down.
then repeat -usually half way thru the second quid fx start and gradually climb.
fx can be regulated by quidding more - or stopping quidding.
the stevia really makes it taste so damn good - traditionally a tiny bit of sugar can be added - i find stevia longer lasting and better by far.

i have made good friends with the very genuine muslim dude that sells it - he saves me the best bundle as soon as it comes in and then fones me Smile(i think thats caus i showed so many ppl how to enjoy it)

Hey Phlux

I’m just learning how to quid the tips. The effects are there but I think I need to chew more
The taste changes with the seasonal growth of the plant the new red growth seems to be easier on the taste buds

When I first tried this plant I just chewed the leaves and thought I could never chew quids of this but after more reading I found out you only chew the outer flesh / bark of the new shoots and the small new leaves which are a lot more palatable

Have you or swim tried an extraction on this plant?
My friend tried some time ago with AB extraction pulled with xylene and got nothing. A lot of care was taken with PH and everything was kept cold and the pulls where done as soon as the acid solution was basified and then the xylene was salted immediately with HCL
I think the xylene is the wrong solvent

I always look forward to reading your ground braking and informative posts

Cheers
Got

Yes its very sociable, I had some last week, first time in a few months, had a great day. Your khat looks really fresh in comparison to the stuff I got last week! Lucky you! Cool

As far as quidding is concerned I chop all the tops of the plant off, get a pile put some chewing gum in my mouth and then stick the pile of khat in with the chewing gum, really helps me chew and doesnt stick in my teeth as badly because its all stuck to the gum. I usually quid it half of the bundle for an hour or two then after that the other bundle goes in for anther hour or two

2 bundles of this would be excessive - my friend that faces stimulants once managed 3 and was buzzing for days.
1 would be my max.

hi Phlux, thanks for sharing this info.

you said " properly munched twigs " is that pic -after quidding?

also, how woody are the twigs? i guess i thought Khat was a very woody shrub, but i have never seen one. the seeds are available online, have you grown it before?

I wonder if the local Somali's would have it here (usa) even tho its illegal--guess i will inquire

hm! I've always been interested in qat! I once was being searched by a somali greyhound security worker who found my kratom and thought it was qat! Far from being angry, he seemed delighted! But it was kratom... I didn't know about the purple/red growth, that's beautiful! Would that be time of year, temperature, nutrients, or genetics?

Qat is on my list of plants to cultivate, once I have a place. Has anyone tried the seed available on the internet? Are the seeds illegal (read:enforced) in the US, or just qat and cathinone?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

It IS very addictive stuff though. Be carefull. In a country like yemen, qat abuse is as much of a problem as alcoholism is in places like russia.

This is very true.Plus to grow it, it requires an inordinate amount of water which is not the most abundant reource out there.Nevertheless, a mild but pleasant experience to quid the stuff a few times in the wild badlands of the Yemen!Wink
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

a few errors here

it may be addictive but one would have to live in a country amongst ppl that eat it daily to get addicted.
its not mild by any stretch of the imagination - its by far one of the most potent stimulants with massive body rushes.
also it can live in drought - iv seen one grow in the worst clay soil - like a boss.

another awesome thing about khat

it builds up a 2 groups of muscles on either side of the head - noticably.(from eating khat i have these muscles - that are quite visible now)
i was at a friends place that has a tree iguana guarding the bud - i went in to feed it a plate of patipans, baby marrow, carrot, etc - and the door had no hinges(nobody tells me this)
the door comes off the cage as i enter - bouncing off my head (its a solid metal frame door)
luckily it hit the jaw muscle and bounced clean off - leaving me uninjured - unscratched at all infact.

just another reason to munch ur bunchfull Very happy
