Curious.. I decided to order some, just got it in today Smile

Nicotinia Rustica... has anyone tried it? Its supposed to be a lot more powerful than the poisened shit we call tobacco today. The stuff I got is wild stock all the way from Peru all wrapped up nice and tight like a huge solid cigar and does indeed look very rustic.
I'll try some soon, but was wanting to see if anyone else had first. I hope its a good Changa addy Smile

peace!

I have smoked mapacho only a few times. The nicotine is very strong for me. Usually only a few puffs and i'm in another mode of mind for a good hour. I might just be sensitive to it though.

You don't need much of it ha. The effects can be felt immediately Smile

Great addition for me before journeying on an ayahuasca brew.

ah nice one mate. Would you say a small pinch in a pipe or bong would be a good way to start with it? Would the Shaman use it in conjunction with a ayahuasca brew as well? I know they use it as a sacrament when picking materials for the brew.

Mapacho is regularly used by Amazonian shamans. They blow the smoke into the container of the Ayahuasca to clear it of negative energies, and they often smoke it before, during and after ceremonies. The customs on this varies a lot. Sometimes a fat Mapacho blunt is passed around at the end of the ceremony, and sometimes liquid Mapacho is snorted before the ingestion of Ayahuasca.

Generally, I think it is a great addition to Ayahusca. I have not tried it on Changa, but I absolutely love it in combination with the brew. It contains insane amounts of nicotine which I really think works well in conjunction with Ayahuasca, and it also contains noticeable amounts of harmala-alkaloids. I would smoke it in a joint or a blunt, not a bong, to avoid getting too much nicotine. That is not a nice feeling.

Safe travels!

I don't smoke tobacco at all, save for mapacho when i'm working with ayahuasca. I rolled a cigarette of it when i first got it and found it to be very powerful. I gernerally smoke it out of a small wooden pipe when i am brewing my ayahuasca, blowing the smoke into the brew as it simmers causes it to erupt in smoke and steam and is quite fascinating to watch. I also try to smoke some when i take pharmahuasca or ayahuasca, but it can be hard to maintain the intentions to find and hit the pipe while journeying. It is a great addition to the experience though. I also will add some into dmt spliffs or changa joints and find that it synergizes with the dmt/cannabis or changa very nicely. It truly is the ultimate companion herb for dmt/aya, imo. I am limited to smoking small amounts as I have no nicotine tolerance whatsoever and it is pretty potent stuff, but it can help with nausea as well as adding other levels/feelings to the experience.

Thats fantastic guys Smile cheers for that info.

Its all bound up just now so I've not opened it yet, but I hope its all full leaves wraped up... Then I could use them as wraps for changa blunts. I'd imagine if it has such a great synergy with other entheo's it'd be good for changa.

Snozzleberry... When you blow it onto the brew, do you inhale it or is it purely for the ritual? btw way dude, I might have been a bit of a dick to you in another thread a while back... so for that I humbly apoligise my friend. Its all love this end brother Smile

thanks again kind sirs

My mapacho came in a log that can be carefully unrolled...I hadn't thought about using it as a wrap, but that's a great idea, i may have to see if I can do that when I get home tonight. I would imagine a mapacho blunt would be considerably stronger than a "normal" blunt, probly leave me on my knees (last time I smoked a blunt walking through my house, the first hit made me keel over due to walking up the stairs and being so susceptible to the nicotine rush).

I both inhale and then blow the vapors into the brew as well as just hold the smoke in my mouth and blow it on the brew (and occasionally puff some smoke rings onto it too, you gotta have that flair Wink ). I like to get a little nicotine buzz while I do it, figure it puts me and the brew on the same plane (if that makes any sense). Either way, it interacts with the simmering brew in a very entrancing manner, the way it bubbles and steams excessively as soon as the smoke touches the surface...it's like magic.

It's all good, I understand where you were coming from and I am aware that people do posture in online forums (although I try to be as true to myself as possible) and that with the faceless interactions of the internet, we sometimes come across harsher than intended, or just harsh because of the nature of the medium (I know I've definitely done it at times and am not proud of it when I do). Thank you for your kind words, it's all love on this end as well Very happy (man, we really need a big happy loving heart emoticon or something, haha).

peace

It can be quite rough in a bong or anything of the sort. I would usually roll a very tiny spliff of mapacho..take a few puffs before the journey and usually a few puffs afterwards.

I tend to not smoke it that much for as it is VERY strong for me and therefore don't take much Smile

The advice on the Nexus is 2nd to none Smile I would have gone and put some in a pipe I have and just smoked away (or at least tried to for a second hehe)... MAN! This stuff sorts the men from the boys! A single shifter with a filter and it still blew me away lol. very VERY powerful stuff... Way too harsh for a changa blend imo. Maybe before or after a session would be nice Smile

Snozzleberry... I'm glad you're on the same wavelength as I man. Getting even slightly annoyed throws me off balance and plays on my mind a lot. Its defo not what I'm all about... so cheers for being so understanding about it man and for being such a cool individual Smile.

I ordered mapacho a few months ago and since then I haven't smoked anything bought from a store.

also about 5 people I've given my mapacho cigarettes to have quit smoking typical smokes.

my recipe is as follows

1 part mapacho
1 part peppermint ( i find the organic peppermint from Gia garden has the best flavor )
1/2 part lavender

try that out and let me know what you think its sure as hell a hit over here : )

1.Take mapacho, dry it out in your oven at 180 degrees for about 6 hours.

2.Grind mapacho with mortar and pestle, add about five percent of the dry weight of the leafs worth of sodium carbonate.

3.Moisten the mixture with dihydrogen oxide until sodium carbonate is disolved and soaked into leaves, leaving a leafy grit. You want a ph of just under 9, this will basify about 90 percent of the nicotine. If you only achieve a ph of 8, you will only end up with about a fifty percent conversion.

4. Let dry, add your choice of oil such as peppermint oil, bergamont, cannbis, safrole WHATEVER and grind it in more and let that cure in the fridge until it smells right to you.

5. Take about a quarter of a gram and put it into an empty lipton tea bagging-bag, shape it like a snus and put it in your mouth like a snus.

6. Enjoy a super powerful snus with almost zero nitrosamines due to baking it as opposed to firing it with you own choice of flavoring. Woooohooooo. Snus is my preferred way to use tobacco as youre not effing up your lungs and when cure in this manner won't be carcinogenic

You can cure the baccy this way to prepare snuff, also.

Cool, this closely corresponds with how I believe mapacho is used in shamanistic contexts in the Amazonian regions, based on what I've learned from Steve Beyer's "Singing to the Plants" and some related books. Apparently "the spirits" love mapacho, its flavor, smell, and it acts as a sort of food for "the spirits" - I use quotations since the spirits don't seem to be quite real, but don't seem to be unreal - they seem to blur the strict dichotomy between "real" and "unreal".

Wizards of the Amazon and elsewhere use tobacco juice and smoke to nurture "magic darts" and other objects they use in their work. It's said to enable one to suck or blow good/bad energies in/out of patients. It's used in ayahuasca ceremonies as well as in Peruvian cactus ceremonies for these purposes. Along with ayahuasca and toe/datura, it's considered one of the three most important medicines in shamanry.

The mapacho has told me to *swallow* the juice that forms in the mouth after smoking a roll-up of mapacho (I'd use the term cigarette but that seems inappropriate). Swallowing the juice that forms, rather than spitting it out, allows one to take in more of the power of mapacho. A power plant indeed...

Snus is a form of chewing tobacco, in which the user sucks on a "pouch" of cured tobacco, and instead of having to Spit the liquid out, the user can just swallow it.

It's no laughing matter, this chemical is strictly watched so beware people! It has also been associated with numerous deaths, which poses a serious warning to its usage.

Yea, you are correct, I shouldn't have made light of it Wink .

After all, if you inhale it it can kill you, it's vapors can burn you, and it's solid form is one of the leading cause of road accidents in colder climates.
