Can you just add some vinegar to neutralize lye? Options

Hi. Say you're doing an extraction and you used lye and you're worried about maybe some lye in the spice. You already have crystals. Can you just pour some vinegar on the spice and let the vinegar evaporate? Would it then recrystalize in to a clean product? Thanks.

It would be best to clean your dirty spice by dissolving it in a little solvent (naphtha) at about 40ml/gram. The lye will sink to the bottom, decant the clean solvent or siphon it off. Keep doing this until there is no more spice to dissolve into the solvent and only remnants of lye soup remain.

Freeze precipitate the spice out of the solvent or slow evaporate it.

If you did that then there would be a bi-product from the reaction, sodium acetate. It is a non-toxic substance not sure about smoking it, SWIM has smoked harmalas with the same contamination once either way likely the lye in the product would be minimal and thus the sodium acetate bi-product too.

You'd have to choose whether you feel safe smoking trace amounts of sodium acetate of trace amount of lye...

If you do that then make sure to evaporate the vinegar at 70-100C (not hotter, else it will vaporize) until it no longer smells of vinegar, it's a new tek that just uses heat to freebase the DMT-acetate.

SWIM's never done this with DMT and lye, but he has with harmalas and sodium carbonate. SWIM hasn't used lye in a WHILE so he couldn't test it if he tried Very happy

I have to keep remebering to state that I'm not looking for a smokeable product. Just a pharmahuasca type product that has a heck of a lot less mimosa material than just boiling mimosa.

I see. So it's the same idea as the original tek. I didn't mention I would be using naphtha in the first place. So you just make sure in your first pull of naphtha that you don't drag any lye and you're fine. Thanks.

It seems that lye boiling point is 1378°ะก. So, it would be difficult to evaporate it under the temps normally used for evaporating spice.
Do not seek the truth, just drop your opinions.
