I don't see how asking questions about watching TV on DMT is somehow dis-respectful? Maybe I am missing something...

First of all plants can't be "dis-respected". You can only disrespect yourself by abusing them.

Second sometimes its fun to watch a movie while on pharmahuasca or something. Who is anyone to judge anyone else how they want to enjoy a trip?

Its fine to give advise but to treat someone with dis-respect because of it doesn't seem appropriate.

Although yea I think people should do some research before asking questions that can easily be found by reading a bit. I think however some people even if they do read it still feel the need to ask a question because sometimes it honestly just helps to get the go ahead from someone who has more experience.

I have maintained since day one that I LOATHE the term n00b as everyone is a noob at some point, after all every journey must start with a first step. To give people flack over being new to something is a concept i have never understood and will never take lightly. We give each other enough shit over slightly more meaningful issues, why would we dump additional, unneeded aggravation on those who arguably need it the least? Where is the logic in that?

As to finger waving or ownership of the chat, clearly no one owns it (with the possible exception of Trav, but that raises questions of ownership of a community within a communal context and feel that the communal "WE" own it just as much, but that's a side issue). As far as finger wagging, I wag my finger on the forum the same way I do in the chat. If you're doing something stupid in either place, I share my mind with you. If you are extracting in a place that is not your property and do not have the permission of whoever's place of residence it is, if you are taking entheogens recklessly, if you are advising other members of poor lab technique (using bad solvents, using solvents+fire, not using gloves or other safety equipment, etc), if you are advising others in health matters or extraction techniques that are obviously out of your depth, I will call you out. Feel free to do the same to me. This is not about me being better than anyone or vice versa, this is in order to keep an exhange of appropriate, valid, and safe information. If you tell someone that boiling solvents on a stove is safe or that eating fistfuls of datura is cool, expect to be chastised.

Beyond things of an objectively stupid/bad/wrong nature, there is no reason anyone should be assuming any sort of position of power within the chat as that's not what the chat is about. If you are interested in forming social hierarchies I believe games such as second life and the sims or applications such as facebook may be more up your alley than the nexus chat, or even forums for that matter. Over the past couple weeks, there has been an explosion of trolls as well as inexperienced and new members in the chat. I welcome you all (trolls excluded) and although it has made the chat much more chaotic and occasionally wearing on the nerves, it is for the benefit of the community that the chat is there. The chat has been more continuous as of late, in part due to first questions for information, but there have also been some very stimulating discussions between members, new and old alike.

The anonymity of the internet makes it very easy to spit venom in live chat. I'd like to end this post with a quote from the Nexus attitude, for it often seems as though far too few people have familiarized themselves with it...
The Nexus Attitude wrote:

• We EMBRACE those who have curiosity about or experience of voyaging in the worlds of spice (DMT) .
• Spice takes us to worlds BEYOND egos and personalities.
• Spice journeys can be harrowing. Those undergoing them need SUPPORT from travelers who have gone before them.

If you’ve cruised the forum you have surely seen that the nexus is different from any other forum.

• We respect each other and support each other, because we know that anyone willing to make these journeys automatically deserves respect and support.
• We mostly avoid the petty types of forum fights and cliques seen on many forums because our topic is anything but petty.
• We understand that members have a variety of experiences and opinions because the universe is infinite—and no one can really carve a piece off for himself and declare it the “only truth.”
• Most of us are generous in giving love and support because we know how much love and support we need ourselves.

let me see if I have this thread straight - what seems to have happened here is one guy has his nose out of joint because he didn't like the tone of the response he got in the chat room - am I right?

So then we get half the story posted in the forum, about how some guys are being rude and uppity to 'noobs', and think they have all the answers to hyperspace.

So, imo, this is bullshit. If you've got a problem with someone, take it up with them in a PM, don't run to the forum telling tales. I think you're way out of line, OP

This falls completely within the realm of opinion. I simply spoke to the feelings of many forum members, which I share.

I agree that disrespect falls completely out of line here at the Nexus, but we all slip up sometimes.

Peace.

U.C you did dude (nice avatar), striaght out. I will be more specific with what I type, will say to a person YOU SHOULD try this, if i am suggesting it to them, rather then, if you. The aggressivness of members that dissaprove when other members suggest things, needs to b toned down also. In all probally miss understanding on both our parts. All the best

Honestly this is so unnecessary to go back and forth on here. Just PM someone if their is a personal problem.. i can't really find the problem here since the chat always seems to be very peaceful.

If your upset because other members and I dissaproved of the whole DMTV topic then thats fine, thats your position. I don't think your going to find many who talk optimistically about the idea here. You brought it up, we said our opinions on IT. No one called you out or was aggressive towards you at all, ONLY THE IDEA; it wasn't directed towards you.
It doesn't matter much whether or not you were actually suggesting it or said "if you try this then ___", it was the thing itself that we were talking about.

I was open with my thoughts and strongly opposed against the idea of smoking dmt and watching tv just as i always am when other people have come in the chat recently and said things like you "get more deep understanding of this show" or that its really awesome for "the crazy trippy visuals in that show". I never called you a "noob straight out" and don't even remember using that word. If i used the word noob (which i pretty much only do playfully) then i was talking generally about people who bring up dmtv in that manner in the chat. If you take offense to that then whatever, agree to disagree, people have different opinions.. No one was being aggressive or cruel to anyone else. Don't take things so seriously man

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

Finally!! I've been waiting for the world to smarten up and make that shit illegal. TV is the mind killer. It should have been made illegal years ago.
