I would love to have a discussion on The Age of Stupid as I thought it was absolutely brilliant. What do you think?

it's a continuum.

stupid has always existed. in the thick of the information age, you'd think stupidity would be on the decline and people would become more informed.

but convenience and complacency are abundant, and social conservativism, perhaps the most ignorant aspect of stupidity, still exists in many societies.

Its an epic British film which depicts The Age of Stupid, as a society we are definitely in sadly.

Indeed I couldn't agree more, our lack of connection with our earth and the loss of our ancient knowledge and wisdom has definitely had a huge impact on our society as a whole.

As Benzyme said, stupidity has always existed and I see that it is irrespective to the connection to earth or ancient wisdom. Humans cannot overcome it and I believe that it is a basic feature of human nature.

I recently finished reading a book written from the 3rd Byzantine Emperor, Julian. Julian was the only Byzantine Emperor who opposed Christianity (=the founding religion of the Byzantine Empire) and he wanted to revert back to the Old pagan ways. The book is called "Beard-Hater" and it can be found online there. Basically the Emperor speaks about the shallowness of his people and their emphasis on materialism and loose ethics. He himself was sporting a beard that was seen as un-cool buy his modern trendies. Reading through his text one sees that stupidity was rampant in the ancient world and not of a different type compared to the modern one.

Maybe the coming and establishment of christianity fuelled stupidity. In non-christian eras people did less stupid things.

Yeah I think people have always been stupid. I feel like I'm watching a nature programme about stupid bald monkeys every time I leave my house! Laughing

Acid in the water supply please, time for wakey wakey.

At least the ethical consumption movement seems to be taking off, maybe there is still hope. Still, don't forget the acid.
