You cannot use this credit card for this transaction. Please use another funding source."

Is there an alternative way?

What the heck? You should contact your bank and demand an answer! It can't be that they are blocking the transaction because of the cause you are trying to help? Shocked

STS is a community for people interested in growing, preserving and researching botanical species, particularly those with remarkable therapeutic and/or psychoactive properties.

It happened a few times in the past. The bank says it's because of Paypal policy. Can I pay to any of you guys Paypal accounts, and you forward the money to CCLE?
Do not seek the truth, just drop your opinions.

This crime is disgusting and despicable beyond words. Whoever did that is the lowest piece of shit scumbag motherfucker in existence and they need to be locked away for life, in isolation. This act was almost certainly sponsored by an organised group who want to prevent us from expanding our consciousness and having greater levels of awareness. I am confident that whoever did it will pay the price severely in due time. But don't dwell on the situation people. There is always light at the end of the tunnel.

As for the loss of such rare valuables, my sincerest condolences go to you and any others who were affected. I know from direct experience what you are going through. I've also had to start over from scratch before. Not fun.

My thoughts are with you Mr. Ott. I will be mailing a donation immediately.

A lot of conspiracy theories I see. The statement is being attributed to Jon Hanna, and has showed up in multiple places as an explanation for the fire.

"Jonathan had been providing a place to crash in his newly created lab/guest
house for two guests, who ended up getting into a couple of physical
altercations with Jonathan's neighbor. Clearly, Jonathan found this to be
unacceptable, and his guests' anger was then turned onto him. While he was
gone from the country, they burned his place down. Nearly all of his books
are now covered soot and have to be cleaned before packing up, but
thankfully only about 40-50 of them were charred and none were consumed. So
he's got a bunch of sad, dirty, tedious work ahead of him, packing
everything up into fruit crates, trucking it to Veracruz, shipping it by
container to Cartagena de Indias, then overland to Manizales, in the
Cordillera Central. Colombia as a spot to relocate likely has more to do
with the fact that he has a gig and a friend he can stay with there; but it
is also true that he was increasingly disenchanted with the area in Xalapa
where he lived."

This is truly a shame. It is a terrible scenario. However sometimes good things come out of unexpected events.
Never the less it is terrible losing ones belongings especially their hard work. Anyone who can should donate $ to show
support even a few bucks. It all adds up. This community needs to stick together.

How sad and disturbing. People can so be twisted sometimes.

Best way to support Ott would be to buy some his books. They really are excellent like pharmacotheon. He should release more into print (he didn't print that many and thus his books are often very rare) then he could raise money to fix his library and help his life. I would gladly buy some of his books that are very rare that he doesn't ever release. Someone should encourage him to do that.

If that statement is true, then in someways that is even worse than it being some cloak and dagger operation.

Yea, I love Ott and have read almost all of his books. It has taken me years to collect them. They are prized treasures. In some ways I enjoy them more and treasure them as they were so hard to get, especially my copy of Shamanic Snuffs or Entheogenic Errhine. It is bound in beautiful leather and hand numbered and signed. This took years of careful watching on ebay and amazon and contacting many bookshops. Finally I snagged a copy for under $200. Some copies sell for over $700.

While collecting can be fun, it is the information which is so important. Thus I feel that there should be more copies available. Maybe make a few collector editions and then release a bunch of regular copies. Ott is very into collecting books (he has a little spiel in pharmacotheon about it) and I think that he wants his works to be rare treasures and appreciated. Many of his works can still be obtained for reasonable prices and I urge anyone who ha to obtain them while they still can. He is an excellent writer and his use of the english language is impressive and motivating. I hope though that this fire shows him the importance of more wide spread dissolution of information.
