hmm, not the best article. "mini big bang" seems like a stupid phrase to grab attention, and they say 4, then say thousands.... high speed particle collisions are used to simulate some of the conditions just after the big bang by shattering particles in a collision, this is not a big bang, although it is still very impressive.
