Hey there,
Had some Aya the other night.
Had been working on a technique for binding tannins over the last few times and got the best results so far.
Basically separated egg whites, Put them into a non stick pan and spread thinly [like a Crepe or pancake] across the whole pan. Cooked till solid
Transfered to the Mimosa pot [previously extracted using the herbal percolator method (8.5g)].
Boiled the solution down [the Egg white went a Pink/purple] so ~60ml final volume.
Added some lemon juice and Agave syrup to the glass to help with taste When I drank the Mimosa brew, which usually for me is the nastiest thing that I have ever tasted I was surprised at how there was no bitterness at all! It even tasted sort of nice (thanks lemon and agave)!
The effects worked as expected [visual / headspace]
And the other best part - [for me anyways] There was absolutely no nausea at all, not even a tiny stomach grumble. And hence no purging, which made for one of my most beautiful and rewarding Aya experiences so far [and longer too ~3hrs first stage].
Hope that's of use to some that prefer not to barf [rewarding as it can be].
Other easy protein binding options for those with dietry restrictions -
Tofu (well get soy milk, add MgCl and precipitate out the protein and transfer the floculated (i.e. pre pressed) protein into a herbal percolator and run your solution thru this. Boiled milk with a little vinegar added (i.e. Paneer cheese) floculant should work as well.

why not use activated charcoal? "Nothing is true, everything is permitted." ~ hassan i sabbah "Experiments are the only means of attaining knowledge at our disposal. The rest is poetry, imagination." -Max Planck

not quite. it would need to be treated http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activated_carbon
one may be able to find it at health food stores, it's a good remedy for food poisoning. it's also a great way to decolorize products. tannins are bulky molecules, they're easily trapped in AC. No, sandpaper effect is usually due to astringency from memory [e.g. from tannins]. It actually tasted quite nice over all, not something you'd have for the taste alone, but considering the options a good way to take aya.

salt it through with saturated NaCl solution, and extract with the organic solvent. tannins get trapped. eggs are for breakfast. chemists use AC and chromatography to clean up their products. but if you guys don't mind peptides bound to your spice, then more power to ya "Nothing is true, everything is permitted." ~ hassan i sabbah "Experiments are the only means of attaining knowledge at our disposal.
