Strange new idea I had here at 12:00am...I would like to try smoking herbs or blends. I didn't really know where to post this so move it if you can think of a better spot. The problem is I'm not looking for intense effects.

I'm looking for more calming and head clearing effects. I have searched around a bit but all these herb names and blends are alien to me.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to roll it in some smoking paper and puff away one afternoon when I'm feeling in the mood. I don't want to use something as strong as cannabis however. I'm kinda broke right now as well so hopefully nothing overly expensive. I've seen a local head shop selling 3g packets for like $100 it's crazy here.

Could someone either link me some good info about smoking herbs or recommend a starter product? It's difficult trying to sift through all the sites that sell these products. Most are advertising everything as "mood relaxing" and "dream enhancing" so I can't really find true information.

Thanks.

mullein is a dream herb that also repairs the respiratory system.
damiana is calming.
white sage is cleansing and the thujone offers synergy with alcohol if you drink.
cloves taste good.
skullcaps another nice one.
nicotiana rustica is great.
passiflora is nice as well.
caapi leaves are my favorite.
spearmint/peppermint give a nice flavor.
mugwort for dreams.

roll a mix of your desire in "elements" rice rolling paper for minimal carcinogenic exposure.

Calea - before bed, for interesting dreams.
Caapi - brightens your day, and deepens your appreciation of it.
Mullein -can be bought online for very little (50g/2 oz for under 5 bucks) and can be rolled and smoked.

Of them all, I like passionflower mixed with peppermint. They need to be GOOD QUALITY though. Not the cheap crap with all the twigs in it.

That combination helped me quit smoking tobacco.

The effect is very light, relaxing, and smooth. Nothing major.

SWIM'd suggest datura or brugmansia flowers for a nice clear-headed effect. Leaves re good too but they have an (unwanted for SWIM) chlorophyll-taste. But please research these herbs before using them if you're new to solanaceae and especially tropane-containing alkaloids. These plants can be very dangerous if ingested but they have a far-far-far safer mark when smoked.

Blue lotus, calea, passionflower, kanna are few good ones that can be smoked either on their own or in combination with datura/brugmansia.

Interesting. Infun, what is your recommended safe dosage for smoking datura or brugmansia flowers?
When does it start to become too trippy to be safe without a sitter (i.e. start doing crazy stuff)?
Can the seeds be smoked, and if so what dose to smoke and when to stop?

+1 vote for Elements, although it's a bit silly to be overly concerned with the carcinogens from a standard rolling paper if you're going to fill it with cloves and tobacco.

Well, SWIM never weighs, he usually rolls a cigarette with the ground flowers mixed roughly 50/50 with another herb.

The last time he smoked, he shared 4 brugmansia flower cigarettes during the course of 2 hours between him and his friend, they had a nice time. No ill effects. But just in case, people are advised to start low. Datura cigarettes were anyway prescribed to asthmatics in the past to relieve breathing and no seriously ill effects were noted (unless the cigs were made into a tea and drunk...).

SWIM also gave some brugmansia leaves to his mother's colleague to smoke (he's asthmatic) and apparently he was smoking them frantically all the time in the office during worktime (which made his other colleagues including SWIM's mother concerned) but he faced no ill effects. He was apparently really enjoying the "high".

SWIM would normally expect some dryness of the mouth should tropanes start hitting at dangerous levels, but he never really got something like that.

SWIM has never tried smoking seeds but it should be doable as long as the are finely ground? Something to try next time he finds some seeds.

I like patchouli added to a mix, but I'm a big fan of patchouli. A little goes a long way. I don't use more than 1/5th patchouli to any smoking mix. Marshmallow herb is a good filler. I wouldn't bother smoking any scullcap other than the dwarf or desert. Besides cannabis, the only herb I catch a buzz from by smoking is the desert scullcap. The rest I find almost useless as a smoking herb.

Yes, SWIM's been smoking Datura Strummoium flowers and leaves for some time now when SWIM's spring allergies come back. Takes away the chest congestion. Awhile back SWIM found this simple tech too that also dealt with smoking Datura from a regular cigarette.... which may be the way to go for SWIY's with seeds....

SWIM just received some "alleged" Desert Skullcap and it's nothing but a bag of sticks, no leaf at all and it's incredibly harsh. Can anyone who has smoked Desert Skullcap describe what theirs looks like. I'm pretty sure it's not the Desert/Mad Dog variety, if it's skullcap at all....

not trying to hijack the thread but thought this question could be asked here instead of making a brand new topic...

i was wondering if anyone here has tried any of the smokeable products from http://www.herbal-smoke-shop.com/

If so i am very curious to hear any reports.

I also cant seem to find what the contents of any of these smoking blends are?

Whats up with these "hybrid buds" they talk about?

i realize none of them contain THC, but i was wondering if they still might be a nice alternative smoke???

or maybe if one had access to pure JWH they could mix the two for some decent effects?
All above posts are absolutely fictional and have nothing to do with actual reality whatsoever.
