I was reading about this syndrome a bit, i must admit it is the first time i heard of it.
Anybody have some more information about this?

And how does the use of psychoactives influence on this? I always thought a high amount of serotonin was a treatment for depressions... I know this is stated pretty simplistically, but can someone give me more information on this?

Peace
Elpo

ps: i hope this is the right place to post this...

From what ive read, peoples experiences and so on. Its kinda hard to do unless your really pushing it in some direction with strange drug interactions. And that its not very nice at all.

mixing MAOIs (like ayahuasca) with SSRI antidepressants (like prozac) is one of these dangerous interactions that could cause serotonin syndrome

^^ Yup, that is the number one reason causing it. It can also occur from a doctor over prescribing, or miss-prescribing an SSRI. I think the risk is lower with RIMA's, and also if you are taking lower doses of SSRI's, none the less, it's nothing to fool around with.

I've never heard of taking psychedelics alone causing it however. I have done a lot of research in regard to RIMA's and SSRI's, but unfortunately there is very little out there.

Oh, and yes. Serotonin boosts can help with general depression and anxiety, but like anything, too much can cause an OD.

Oh yeah. SSRI's will completely block any effects of ecstasy (although I don't consider that a bad thing, personally). Did it fuck you up in some other way? Other than just not being able to feel the ecstacy?
