Hello all,
An introduction to me.
I'm an older guy.
I grew up in a religious household, went to a Christian school, went to church twice every Sunday and at night on Wednesday's. Did this from the time I was born until I turned 18. There was no drinking, no dancing, no movies, no sex, no cursing...you get it. Complete lock down, and corporal punishment.
We went through I think 4 or 5 pastors at the church due to random, scandals of cheating, molestation, etc. School teachers and principals same thing. Everyone I knew was a hypocrite. We kids, hid our 'sins' well. I hated organized religion.
I went into the military and pretty much abandoned all of it (as should be expected I suppose), once I was released from the bubble. Went full blast for a while on the drinking and sex, then eventually settled down, got a normal job, and grew old.
Recently I started questioning the meaning of life (as old guys do). It turned into a Rabbit hole, of looking at ancient Sumerian literature, in an attempt to find out what the meaning of life from one of the earliest civilizations we know. I found the stories of Enlil, and Enki their God's interesting, and the flood story. It seemed to be "close to" the same story as the Eden of Genesis and the flood. The names and reasons were different, but this pre-bible work had me go down more rabbit holes.
I started comparing these stories to the Bible, and realized that there are many books actually missing from the Bible. The scribes or whoever put the bible together decided that we didn't need to see these stories, which meant, I needed to see these stories.
So I ran into the book of Enoch. This book talks about *why* some of the angels (Lucifer and crew) were cast from heaven. After 18 years of being force fed religion I never actually knew what Satan did to be outcast.
Anyways, I'll quote a verse from it here.
From the book of Enoch Chapter 8
"1. And Azâzêl taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals 〈of the earth〉 and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all colouring tinctures. 2. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways. Semjâzâ taught enchantments, and --> root-cuttings <--, Armârôs the resolving of enchantments, Barâqîjâl,"
Then goes on to say:
"1. And then Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel looked down from heaven and saw much blood being shed upon the earth, and all lawlessness being wrought upon the earth. 2. And they said one to another: 'The earth made †without inhabitant cries the voice of their crying† up to the gates of heaven. 3 ⌈⌈And now to you, the holy ones of heaven⌉⌉, the souls of men make their suit, saying, "Bring our cause before the Most High.".' 4. And they said to the Lord of the ages: 'Lord of lords, God of gods, King of kings, 〈and God of the ages〉, the throne of Thy glory (standeth) unto all the generations of the ages, and Thy name holy and glorious and blessed unto all the ages! 5. Thou hast made all things, and power over all things hast Thou: and all things are naked and open in Thy sight, and Thou seest all things, and nothing can hide itself from Thee. 6. Thou seest what Azâzêl hath done, who hath taught all unrighteousness on earth and revealed the eternal secrets which were (preserved) in heaven, which men were striving to learn"
So, I was curious as to what "The cutting of roots meant", and what 'secrets which were preserved in heaven' they were referring to.
Went down another rabbit hole, and this group perhaps has the answer to that question given what I've learned about how things are made. Maybe not all the answers, but certainly some of it.
So here I am on a new journey of learning. Taking the "bible" out of it, it is clear that early humans had access to knowledge that we don't. The things they built and the things we keep unearthing continues to amaze (and of course be hidden).
I'm putting together the items required to see the other side of the veil which will ultimately answer the questions I have, doesn't seem too difficult, but the education this forum provides is valuable.
A question: Is there an Onion site for this forum?
Sorry for the ramble...
