Dry flash chromatography always looked to me as though it would be very convenient. I still hope to try it at some point, so it would be great to see someone else having a go with it too.
It's simply a matter of packing a suitable column or fritted funnel with adsorbent and drawing the eluent through into a filter flask (or tube) with aspirator suction. It's apparently even OK to suck the adsorbent dry between eluent batches, which should make use of elution gradients all the easier too.
Harwood and Moody would be the starting point for this.
“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."
