Stomach acid would favour absorption of benzoic acid over mescaline because of protonation from the acidic environment...
But why should this differ over simply taking MescH⁺BzO⁻??

Does the benzoate perhaps remain insoluble in stomach acid and pass into the small intestine more efficiently? Is some peculiar form of molecular interaction taking place in the MescH⁺BzO⁻? It's time to review the reports - but what we really need is a randomised, double-blind trial.
We seem to have strayed off the thread topic a bit, btw
“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."
