Anyone have any experience with this? I drank a tea with about 2grams and felt more awake, no zippy like coffee but more alert. Im actually curious cause its saying it helps with lucid dreams, anyone have any experience with stuff?

Yes, I have some experience with it. It's like a cross between Yerba maté and coffee in my opinion. I prefer Yerba maté over Guayusa because it tastes a little better and the effect is much nicer. For me, Guayusa feels like you took a cup of Yerba maté and added some coffee to it. From what I understand Yerba maté and Guayusa are very closely related, but Guayusa is higher in caffeine. You may remember me as 69Ron. I was suspended years ago for selling bunk products under false pretenses. I try to sneak back from time to time under different names, but unfortunately, the moderators of the DMT-Nexus are infinitely smarter than I am.

I havenβt noticed that, but I tend to have a ton of dreams and lucid dreams anyway, so Iβm probably the worst person to ask about that. I know that Yerba maté contains two precursors to phenethylamine psychedelics (eugenol and safrole), and I just found out it also has MAOI activity. I assume the same is true for Guayusa. These two plants are from the same family. Ilex paraguariensis is Yerba maté. Ilex guayus is Guayusa. They are very similar in effects and flavor. But not totally alike. You may remember me as 69Ron. I think MJ has this swimmers vivid dreams on lockdown, and is really hoping this stuff will kick them up a notch.
When you say MAOI, do you mean MOAI or RIMA?

I'm not sure what kind of MAOI Yerba mate has in it. It might be a RIMA or not. I need to do more research on it. I only saw one mention of this fact so far. You may remember me as 69Ron. I love the buttery taste of guayusa. For me, it's effects are similar to coffee without as many jitters and the light euphoric peak lasts a little bit longer. Considering what I think I understand about safrole not being water soluble, consider drinking the tea unstrained to get all the effects from ingesting the plant parts with the water.
For some "open" dreaming effects, try a cup of tea from white sage (salvia apiana) an hour before bed. 2g/8oz is a good starting point. It tastes like spicy sap.
I have been having a cup of tea from white sage, peppermint, and ginkgo to cope with a cold and discovered the dreaming effects by chance. Ginkgo normally keeps me up, but the sage allows me to ease into sleep.

ok about Guayusa and lucid dreaming..i have never tried it but here is what I have read. Guayusa is drank in the morning upon waking to REMEMBER dream..not sure about the lucidity thing, i neve heard that, but it apparently helps to remember the dreams.and i think they use it the same way after aya ceremonies as well..and also at times add it to brews. Long live the unwoke.

Nice im gonna have to try the white sage....
I think I read about the lucid dreams from a website selling the stuff, not sure, but wouldnt be surprised if they are trying to make it sound like the holy grail of dream time.... And I believe they use it as an admixture to keep you more aware during the aya experience....

So i received a free sample of Guayusa with an order from spiritgarden the other day and i decided to try it out yesterday at around mid day. Slightly larger than 2 tea spoons brought to the boil and left to simmer for around half hour as i had read on here. Made some more an hour or 2 later adding around the same ammount to the previously brewed shredded leaves. As for direct alertness i, did feel it, but didn't notice it too much. But then i was already quite tired to begin with. Went to bed later that day and through the night and had 2 short lucid dreams and quite a lot of other dreams (nothing visionary or spectacular though, just personalized cross sections of my sub-conscious) . Whether or not its my own sub-conscious suggestibility from reading about it yesterday,or it is indeed the guayusa, i will only find out once i've had it a few more times. Either way i think i'll just stick to one brew's worth next time as i felt i didn't sleep very well ,at the expense of good dream recall. tasty stuff though

Yea be careful with that stuff...its very high in caffeine - you wouldnt drink coffee before bed right? I am confused - I think the tribes that drink Guayusa use it to stay awake through the night, and for dream RECALL. I dont think it is used to enhance dreaming at all, traditionally at least. I may be wrong here though. "Mama matrix most mysterious." James Joyce
"The next great step toward a planetary holism is the partial merging of the technologically transformed human world with the Archaic matrix of vegetable intelligence that is the Transcendent Other." Terence McKenna
