I would like to conduct some experiments on the capability of controlled stimuli to influence my trips on DMT. An example of this might be holding sour candies in my mouth as I break through. I have two questions that I'd love to receive your feedback on: is this a legitimate use of DMT? I am not sure that I should take DMT if it is not in the spirit of self improvement. I generally take DMT about twice daily (I know it is a lot, refer to my first post for more details) so this testing wouldn't increase or decrease the rate at which I consume DMT. The second question is this: what suggestions do you have for the experiment itself? My plan would roughly include efforts to limit visual and audio stimuli with a blanket over my head or an eye mask and noise canceling headphones. Then I would introduce the stimuli and begin the trip. I would repeat at a high and low dosage. Each trip would be documented with recordings (won't be published), reports, and recordings of the duration of the experience, as well as mood reports before and after. To give you an idea of what I hope to achieve, I would like to see if the trips while in these conditions will form around the stimuli. For example, if my body was physically restrained, would I have a trip in which I was trapped by entities? Some of the stimuli I had though of were: sour candy, spicy food, physical restraints, mild electric shocks (like one of those gimmicky things that is supposed to give you abs), ice, icy hot, below the belt stimulation, flashing lights. If you come up with more feel free to leave them below. Please also note that I find difficult experiences to be some of the most rewarding trips I've had and a lot of the personal growth I've experienced while using DMT has come from these intense experiences, so I am okay with the heightened risk of potentially having a more scary experience.

I think finding new ways to interact with and explore the DMT realm is a great idea. Seeing how active stimuli effect the experience could be useful in elucidating the source of the visions.

If there's a strong correlation between physical stimuli and the types of experience, I think that could be evidence that they come within. If there is no discernible repeatability from external physical stimuli, then it may be evidence that they come from some special place. Who knows, really.

I think this is a great idea, but I also think you should be very careful. Breaking through you may accidentally choke on a sour candy in your mouth. It might be better to test some simpler stimuli. Maybe test how a colored light effects the experience, or perhaps different textures surrounding your body (soft vs rough materials). I would definitely start with simpler and easier things to test and try to avoid potentially choking in hyperspace

Thanks to both of you for your input! I think this is enough for me to say that there is legitimate interest in these experiments and that they will be worth while. Jacubey raises a good point as far as choking hazards, I will use chili powder or the sour powder at the bottom of the box for the taste experiments. Hopefully if there is enough interest we will be able to have others repeat the experiments to see if we all come to similar conclusions.

Thank you both for the help Smile
