I have a batch of spice that is puzzling both a friend and I.
The batch is brand new, done via STB and then freeze precipitated.
The resulting spice is average looking for a 2nd pull.
It's a nice light tan color with a few whiter chunks.

I have smoked it a few times on a bowl of reefer.
The first time, things were "normal". (as normal as they have been lately)
When i came back, i was convulsing a bit more than usual though..
The second and third times were terrible.
After the first hit, intense nausea began to set in.
Not nausea from smoking a chemical.
Ive experienced that.
Not nausea like an aya purge.
Ive experienced that too.
This was a nausea that seemed to be coming from the very bottom of my lungs.
The "visuals" I experienced were minimal.
It was definitely dmt, but they were so subtle compared to the nausea.
I had an overwhelming feeling like my head was in a psychedelic vice grip.
My friend reported the same thing I did, only he experienced it before i did.

Any ideas as to what this could be..?

This was only the second pull, but it's been a month since the first.
Think that other alkaloids got pulled as well and are "tainting" my spice..?
I've always found colored spice to be better than pure white, so I am not sure what to think..
There was no residual NaOH in the naptha, but there is a nice brown layer on the bottom of my freeze-precip jars.
So some sort of tannins pulled over..

Nothing was different this time during extraction.
A glass turkey baster was used instead of plastic for once..
That was it..

Any ideas?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Sounds like you might be burning your spice a bit. Use less heat when vaporizing.

BROWN at the bottom of your jar? That's not good. You should never have brown at the bottom of your jar.

I get similar effects from dirty spice (residual lye or whatever) from an stb. This has happened twice on two different batches when i skipped the SC wash.

Honestly, do an SC wash then recrystallized it and try again. Im certain this is what caused it. I actually vomited from it twice. And had gunk/foam in my mouth.

What is whith people an convulsing??? Ive never had that nor seen anyone have that from spice. My body is generally really calm and controlled. The most people ever seem to get is their eyes rolling back and darting around. Maybe our spice is really clean, but id be worried if people were convulsing.

When swim burns the spice, he knows right away from the taste. And convulsing doesnt sound right to either,.... he left naptha sitting with the mhrb for 3 weeks, pulled it, and let it evap off and still didnt have brown stuff. Only some awesome smelling oxides Smile Maybe you pulled an emulsion? Maybe its a mix of pulling lye and burning it?

Only time swim got really sick (didnt vomit, but was actually getting nauseous) was when he was still using the machine and didnt burn off all the crap from the chore boy. Even then he knew what he was smoking wasnt right and stopped..... youve had experience with spice before, you know what to expect and if something is wrong....

Not convulsing, just vomming and nauseated.

SWIM had similar sounding lack of impact and nausea/vomiting with 5-MeO after she had freebased it multiple times daily for a couple of months. Have you been blasting off often?

dont smoke dirty spice unless you know what is in the dirt.

also would be hard to tell if you're pulling other alkaloids without knowing solvents useds, heat applied etc. swims been playing with pulling the other alkaloids on purpose and finds that stronger solvents (d-limo/xylene) are needed as well as higher temperatures (pulling and mixing around 55C sometimes as high as 5Cool
Who's this SWIM person and when do I get to meet them? They sound friken cool!

i used to blast off often.
multiple times a day for months at a time.
now i do it twice a month if that.
im pretty sure that my dosage is just way too high.
onset is more than instant and i just go straight to a black abyss where life has ended.
im going to try a smaller dose sometime in the near future.

ive never really had an issue with burning the spice.
ill go buy a clean tweeker pipe and see how this stuff looks when it melts..
if theres anything odd in it, ill be able to see it then..

the convulsing isnt just from this batch of spice.
its all high dose (and especially multiple re-dose) experiences.
ive experienced things like it with other drugs.
when you do a lot of a substance at one time, your body goes into a sort of mild "shock".
i suppose i should describe it more as "extreme shivering".
its just the surge of the chemical rushing through your body.
as far as i know, it doesnt happen during the trip.
only after i come back.

spice is odd sometimes.
there have been times where ive smoked it and had all of it go straight to my body.
its very unpleasant.
no visuals at all and a strong chemical pulsing through your veins.
the first time it happened, i thought i was going to have to tear myself out of my skin to get away from it.

My doses are 50mg... 100mg changa or enhanced leaf.

I have uncontrollable hard-shivers when I return. My muscles jerk and twitch, almost like I'm recovering from shock or cold. I have become used to it. I need to breath deeply when I get back and when I am ready to stand up again, I do some stretching.

I don't recall getting this on pure spice. I think it's a changa thing. I have not smoked pure spice in a while so I can't confirm that.

It's normal, for me at least. Smile

I get these shivers from straight spice and from changa/spiced out joints. I find that the more immersive the experience, the greater the shivers. It doesn't feel unnatural, just as ghostman said, it's like you were cold or shocked. It's actually kinda nice when youre snuggled under some blankets and shivering as though you were freezing but are actually snug and toasty. Ahhhhh, just thinking about it makes me wanna go there...perhaps i will tonite.
