Can we possibly get a bit less cryptic and a little more specific? I read the entry in Tikhal, but the information it presents is both limited as far as effects are concerned and otherwise over my head.

So, what exactly is the deal, Mr. Wizard - i.e. with regard to effects, duration, administration, dosage, legality, efficacy, blah blah blah blah blah and so on and so on and so on.... Is it similar to DMT? To Psilocin? Bufotenine? 5-MEO? Have you sampled it first hand? If so, what's the story? Will it mow my lawn? Pick the kids up from school? Remove unwanted facial hair and embarrassing stains from contour sheets? Entertain visitng relatives? Turn a sandwhich into a banquet? Change my shorts? Change my life? Turn me into a nine year old Hindu boy and get rid of my wife?

I know nothing, and I'm guessing very few here have 1st hand experience with this particular compound. You are both a smartified science type and happen to have a 5g container of it sitting right next to you, so if you wouldn't mind... please educate.

ill gladly let benzyme answer better and hope he does as my knowledge is limited in the chemistry world, but in brief its the building block of pyschedelic tryptamines such as DMT, pysilocin, bufotenine, and others. basically its the first stage of something great, the foundation for a beautiful temple. i dont believe it would be worthwhile to dose with straight anhydrous tryptamine but i could be wrong about that.

dtabbler is correct

tryptamine is the parent compound of a class of compounds.
although it's thought to be a 5HT modulator, it's not exactly active in the way you'd think
(it won't make you trip).

edit:
i wonder if this plant is just another strain/variety of s. divinorum....
or if evolution created a new/different species here!!!
it could be really interesting to check the genetic fingerprint of this plant with biotechnological tools ...imho.
the change of the morphogenesia (a permanent genetic change...?) was triggered last summer by some "ugly" insects/bugs sucking the plant-juice...

pretty girl!

i'm more impressed that you're growing a salvia plant where it's SNOWING outside!!! now THAT'S mighty!!

..here's a pic of my gal sal. i actually kept her too moist last summer and spider mites came along. end of story. extremely sad. i had several beautiful conversations with her before then though, so i'm grateful for that....

smokey- i'm gonna be coming by your way this december. let's get together my friend!

LOVE AND GRATITUDE!!

i've worked at a garden center for LOOOONG time, salvia varieties are plentiful. several hundred i would guess. also antrocles there are many organic/healty ways of ridding a plant of spidermites. i'd suggest next time instead of getting rid of such a wonderful plant to check out a GOOD local garden center (aka not home depot!) and see what they have for organic miticides.

Photo I took myself. Some really good security made me feel really safe as they cruised down my street about 30MPH. I would've gotten a better picture but my camera's got a real slow shutter, so I just followed the action and hoped for the best. I'm kneeling right next to my bedroom window.
