One of the worst movies I've ever seen, constant disappointment, failed orgasm type of feeling through the whole thing and specially the end.

Now that I've gone thus far, I'd recommend ashes and snow 2007, it's like a docu, interesting

I just watched the new one a couple of weeks ago and I love it as much as I do the original, but for different reasons.

Both try to really pay homage to the original source material in their own ways. The first I see as a fast forwarding of almost the entire book, covering as many bases as possible of pertinent details emanating from the book. The newest one is more detail oriented, which may make it a bit "slower" but it's still thoroughly engaging for me.

I prefer the depiction of Jessica in the new movie over the original. She's portrayed with a great deal of balance and willpower in the book and I feel like the new movie brings that out. The original appears to have defaulted to societal tropes of how women are perceived and expected to behave and react to dire circumstances and situations.
