Some rivea leaves were washed with acetone quickly and the acetone was put into 3 containers.

To container 1(right to left) sodium carbonate saturated water was added - then a dash of dlimo and naptha - loads precipitated on the addition of dlimo.

To container 2 33% hydrochloric acid was added followed by some dlimo and naptha - the solution clouded a bit but nothing precipped properly until some base was added- same precip but of a slightly darker color

To container 3 fumaric acid saturated acetone was added, slight clouding but no massive precip - naptha, dlimo and sodium carbonate water was added - massive precip was noticed.

i noticed a quick wash of the leaves in acetone glows red under uv
the addition of dlimo = separation with the top layer glowing orange red under uv - what is this ?

does chlorophyll glow red under uv ?

I got difficultly following your procedure the way it is written! It reads like funnying about stuff, like "i mixed soil with ketchup, I then added some mashed bloodworms and a dash of acetone; some precipitation occurred"

Could you repeat what you did as well as the rationale of each step in these experiments?

Okay the jar on the right yeilded slightly interesting results -
Some dried rivea leaves were soaked in acetone for 1 minute then filtered.
To this acetone, some fumaric acid saturated acetone was added, slight clouding occured but no massive precipitation
Naptha and dlimo was added then sodium carbonate saturated water was added - massive precip was noticed
The precip was dried and collected





motivation for what was done was just pure stuffing around on a lazy sunday.

whatever they are - the purer looking stuff is bitter.

Do the solids weigh more than the sodium carb/fumaric acid added in?

That is an interesting crystalline structure. I wonder what it is

nothing was weighed - everything was disolved before adding tho - il have to try this again when i get more acetone.
